even though shaun is family as a fan of the club first i have no problem with the decision players have been let go for less i just think he deserves to be remembered for a little more than just rocks and diamonds

I saw Reynolds crying in front of me after the game and yelled out 'WHAT ARE YOU CRYING ABOUT?!?!? GO SAY SORRY TO COOPER YOU GRUB!!!' He looked up at me with a pretty broken looking face.

Of course I did mention that SKD was likely to be released and not finish the year with the Roosters sadly -see below and Guerra to Knights post - page 3- not sure to Knights rest of year though as will have to sign by June 30 to play rest of year- court case is June 21- UK SL and maybe return to NRL in 2018??

Guerra and SKD to the Knights - apparently SKD will be released in the next week or so- People may forget that Guerra is a current SOO player and SKD former International (pulled out of the last series I think with injury )- looking ahead we will need to Replace Guerra/SKD and Evans in the 25 - Jacob Lillyman has been mentioned as a potential signing - 34 YO though- Collins/Knight not NRL standard?? -

nothing to do with the cap as his contract finished on Oct 31 or earlier now - May have to ditch a player or 2 at end of 2017 as a result of the cap being less than expected too unless players re-signing take unders to fit all inOriginally posted by crikey chris View PostWas this "early" release a result of salary cap pressure/space?
A real shame. Had a bad feeling that he had played his last game for us. 2nd highest try scorer. Wish him luck in the future.Last edited by King Salvo; 06-14-2017, 01:06 AM.

He drove us crazy but we will miss SKD. A true roosters legend and very popular with the players and fans.
I'm pretty sad about this.
His form and age played a much bigger part in his sacking than the paltry charge against him.
They were going to piss him off at the end of the year anyway, so they decided to cut the cord now so they can use some of his saved salary to front end some other contracts with 2017 cap space. Pretty simple.
Yeah they've pretty well ****ed SKD from being able to land another NRL contract in the process, but I doubt the club gave a passing thought towards that.
I expect skids will wind up beating the charge, and then end up in England/France.

Maybe he just figured he's not gonna play any more footy for us and the club can't realistically do anything about his legal matter or provide him with training?Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

Best to do his own private training, let the courts sort out his legal matter and sever all ties with the club so that he's not hampered by any contractual obligations while he looks around?
I hope he finds something good! Rocks and diamonds might been the SKD we knew early on in his career but he came good in some crucial moments (and when we were up against it at times). Great player... obviously a poor decision in these circumstances. I'm anti-deugs (particularly when it's sports figures who use their bodies for their work) but I don't hold it against him. As I said... he was never a risk to the community like somebody done DUI. He just made a really poor decision that night and (compared with all the other players busted for the same thing) he was uniquely unlucky because the copa did a blotz that weekend (largely for an ABC show).

Sorry for Skiddsy! A favourite of mine in good and bad times. It got to the stage that it was expected he'd drop the ball. if he didn't, it wasn't him. Thanks for that try against Balmain in those finals, and that try in the GF. Not being in Sydney myself, I hope the ChookPen give him some kind of homage/send-off at the next home game.

I reckon SKD was an awesome clubman, and I truly wish him well in his future (professionally & health),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but I'll make 2 comments. (or maybe 4)
1. There will never be, nor IMO , was there ever a more 'Rocks and Diamonds' player in Rugby League, that was somehow allowed to remain in firsts. Never, Ever.
2. I'm 47, and a very passionate roosters fan. Yep, probably even too passionate. BUT, I have never, and I doubt I will ever feel as SHOCKED / PISSED OFF as I did, as when SKD threw 'that attempted pass' to RTS in 2015 final v Broncos (anywhere else, a farking career ender)
Agree, Disagree.............I'd love to know what you guys think.
Just like to add, that I've never seen a worse international performance than that of SKD for NZ last year.
Also, I think impact of his negative moments far out-weigh the impact of his positive moments in the RWB.Last edited by PeeGee; 06-14-2017, 04:23 PM.Roosters For Ever

Releasing him from his contract makes it easier for him to get another NRL gig. He would have been paid out and whoever wants to sign him now will not have to negotiate anything with the Roosters for the remainder of this year. Beating the charge would boil down to proving what he was carrying was not an illegal drug, highly unlikely. I expect they will find him guilty and not record a conviction.Originally posted by Danish View PostYeah they've pretty well ****ed SKD from being able to land another NRL contract in the process, but I doubt the club gave a passing thought towards that.
