I always equated Shaun with Barney Dalton, the Roosters winger who was in Kate Leigh's Razor gang. Well, the club just shot Shaun dead outside the Strand hotel.
Man I love SKD one of my all time favourites. Gutted to hear this and tbh his crime wasn't even close to as bad as some of the other players at the club.
He's a club legend and I'll always hold him in high esteem, he has two moments at this club that will forever be etched into our history.
Not excusing drugs possession offences, but sad it happened for such a relatively minor offence!!!
Every week some wanka gets behind the wheel of the car with alcohol in their system, they get arrested, the NRL suspends them for 2 weeks and it's all over red rover.
SKD gets done with coke in his off week and BAM there's his career gone. That same week Proctor and Bromwich do basically the same thing while representing their country on rep duties and a 2 week suspension will suffice.
I feel for SKD and all he's had to go through with the cops!!! Hope he's got the right support around him and has saved enough coin from footy to move forward in a positive way!

I really don't agree with the club over this.
Honestly... not trying to excuse crimes but I don't think his crime was as bad as [insert player who got a 1-2 week suspension] getting behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated and driving somewhere.
IMO it's unlikely he'll do any prison time, he'll get some kinda good behaviour bond and he'll move on.
Sad way this had to end. I suspect that the club knows the court case won't go well otherwise no reason to sack him before he gets his day in court.
If he didn't use the stuff why would he be carrying it? Holding it for a mate, someone framed him or he is selling the stuff. Only reasons I can think of.
I wish him all the best and I hope his head is in the right place after seeing what he went through with the witch.
I must be the odd one out here. I'm absolutely bewildered that somehow people think Easts owe SKD anything, let alone a 'farewell' game. The club have made him a very wealthy young man and also has stuck by him for years when often his form probably did not warrant it. I enjoyed watching SKD play, but I don't feel sorry for him. I get drug tested in my job, if it comes back positive let me tell you I would be lucky to get back into the locker room to collect my gear. I know he tested negative but let's be honest of course he was going to use the substance. He was the one who showed the club zero respect
Sponsors were getting nervous I understand so no coincidence that Carter and SKD (Released) whether its by mutual agreement I suppose we will find out - Rooster fan Danny Wielder may have the inside goss on SKD's "release" and tell us more perhaps? .- A Big Artie Beetson recruitment was SKD as is Jake Friend - don't know how many more are still left from Big Artie's recruitment days at the Roosters though apart now from Jake ?.
I thought the club would have at least stuck by him to seasons end as he was not going to be re-signed beyond this year. Don't know if Newcastle will still be interested though ?? -Brown reportedly still is but the UK super league looks like where he will end up whether he wants to do that is another story. Hope it wont be a distraction though as he was very popular with the players and fans alike despite being a rocks and diamonds player at times. - Sad to hear this has happened to him- leaves a depth gap in the three quarters though too.
Obviously wont be getting a send off by the club so good luck SKD and thankyou for the 13 years of service and all the best for the future.
On the one hand I think the club owe it to the fans to explain their decision in a bit more detail; but on the other I totally understand that it's a private (and legal) matter.
I just feel that SKD deserves more than the short, cold statement which was more befitting Paul Carter and not a genuine club legend.
I also hope that the club sticks by Shaun to ensure his health and wellbeing. I also hope he earns a nice retirement package in the ESL.
We were all a bit blindsided by this and it's only now starting to sink in.
I can't imagine that this decision was made without consulting the senior player group. Not to get their opinion but to at least ensure that they understand so it doesn't affect team harmony.
Really sad news he is the first of that core group who debuted back in 07 (Pearcey, Maubs, Friendy & Skids) who have been through the roller coaster decade to depart.
I think it's in the best interest of all parties that the details remain silent and Skids hopefully gets the send off he deserves at some point down the track.
To me he will be remembered as the bloke who bled red white and blue so much that he played through a GF with a broken jaw.
I think it was clear this year would be his last, just such a shame to end this way.
Loved SKD! What a champion to play in the GF with a broken jaw. Will be a Roosters legend for ever for that.
Rugby league - the best and the worst of everything. Came to the roosters a backpacker, goes out in inauspicious circumstances, many sublime moments in between.
