In that case fair enough. Guerra completely dogged it in our colours las year. He gave up in defence which is the worst thing you can do.

I would have been happy to see him leave and I'd prefer to see Matterson/Carter/Butcher before Guerra too.

People preferring Watson to Keary at this stage of their respective careers is very reminiscent to people wanting Nikorima over Pearce last year.

I pretty much fell for that trick last year too. But I won't fall for it again this season.

As of right now Keary is a far more polished 5/8 than Watson.

watson served us well last season via his speed and enthusiasm and to not get a fg spot in any position this year because of the keary signing would be disappointing. watson was our only player we had with speed last year.what most overlook about watson is that he is a capable goal kicker.as for qld pygmy nikorima over pearce i never fell for that. prefer watson over nikorima thats for sure. watson is not a freeloader and has a heart.

I have been watching all day and most try's are scored by hitting out then step to the inside shoulder of the defender sliding outwards - a try is a try however you get it , credit should be given for backing your ability and being spacialy aware to convert to points. 95% of players would not have scored from that position.

My biggest concern is our confidence in defence is still an issue, when the attacker runs out hard let the inside man make the tackle if your outside comes in it is an instant overlap, same as last year.

Also Robbo said we had speed, where ? Cows burned us out wide all day - they have some serious speed and by their squad they have shown Nines the respect it deserves as a comp - you should wear the jersey with respect and commitment, where ever you play.

the robbo speed comment in the presser was laughable. we had no speed last year other than watson and have signed no speedsters this year. most of our speed is with the U?20S !!!

What I saw today for what it's worth;

1. Watson and Carter are exactly what I like in a player. They compete. If it's possible watch the last play of our first match and see Carter run 10-15m to get on a tackle with full intensity and he collects Guerra I am sure it was and Guerra was fuming about copping it. I love watching Carter and Watson because of they're Josh Reynolds type competiting.

2. Evans I have run out of patience with. I know it's 9's bla boa but he has a shit carry, shit feet/lay movement and too soft for middle 3rd.

3. Tupou is the most frustrating player I have ever watched. Israel Falou ability but the consistency of my ex.

4. We don't give a rats about this comp.

5. Latrell centre defence is going to major concern. To think him and Tupou will be on same side...

6. Thank god footy is back. Even if it is not real thing. Get on board with our sport people.

Thanks for your honest insight , I played 2nd row and tend to focus more on the defensive efforts and positional anticipation and not so much attacking short falls of 2nd rowers, my coach always said if I pass it would be my last action in the game.

I have often questioned why our second rowers don't ruck the ball up on 2 or 3 then I watched how when our wingers ruck up our 2nd row drops back to defend in case of intercept and realised that there is a lot more to Robbos game plan than meets the eye, so now I watch and learn and trust our Senior players are following the game plan

I only just learned that the Eels lost their title from last year due to the breach (actually, I didn't even know they won it). Yeah I'm real fast and stuff :P

Guerra a plodder has been on the take running of Nicks loyalty to fellow Queenslanders. The club needs to rid itself of the guerra copleys and nikorima qld freeloaders. Jake the only Qld who has a go but no wonder he remains as captain. He is a Politis favourite .
