Thoughts so far:

• Carter looks the goods - feels like LoD or Crocker or similar. Will be great for other firey types, like Napa and Jared.
• Watson is great. The only reason he was involved in any errors in the first game was because he was actually scheming and taking the game to the opposition. Love this kid.
• Latrell looks a bit unfit to me. Was quiet as. The exact opposite of Watson who demanded the ball constantly.
• Guerra is such a plodder, but did put in some good off-the-ball work chasing kicks and whatnot. Yer 1 percenters.
• 9's is a good format. Much prefer it to 7's.

Ahead of our do-or-die game three clash with the Canberra Raiders, the Roosters have finalised the squad that will take to the field.

Latrell Mitchell looks set to start his first game of the tournament, while Joseph Manu will move to the bench to make room.

Brendan Frei gets his first run and Chris Smith will once again lock up a spot in the starting line-up.

Watson looked good because he was the primary playmaker and was seeing a lot of ball as a result of that. Latrell Mitchell was playing in the centres and need some good ball from his half.

And this is the problem with picking ball runners as your primary playmaker.

This isn't a crack at Watson by any means but just highlights the value of a good distributing half so clearly. It holds true as strongly in the Nines as it does at every other level or format of the game.

After a massive win over the Canberra Raiders, the Roosters are in the Quarter Finals and have named their squad to face the Broncos.

The side remains relatively unchanged, though Victor Radley comes onto the bench for Brendan Frei and Bernard Lewis starts for Dale Copley.

Guerra has no place in our team. Maybe through origin, he can fill in for Cordner.
Connor " Gump" Watson is a terrific runner, but again, has zero ability to pass a ball. Unless Carter starts at lock, I fear that you cannot have Carter, Maubs and Connor in the team. Too small and all utilities.
Latrell will be fine come round 1. He is only a baby and he still growing.
