    No comparison between the 2.
Yes cordner was head and shoulders above critchon in terms of consistency however I bellieve Gus critchon is a better athlete and higher ceiling then cordner (had the potential to be better but certainly wasn’t) bigger, stronger and quicker player with footwork in contact - I’m basically saying critchon could have been above cordner but hasn’t shown enough consistency in his game to get there or stay there

at his best he is better then cordner and end of last year the Chooks would not have released him but this year it’s a little different
I’d be doing everything ti keep Wong
Better than Cordner at his best? Yes maybe he was better than Cordner in 3 games. Do you remember the tough runs Cords use to take from our own end? Saying he was ever better than Cordner is like saying Julia Gillard is hotter than Lara Pitt.

Can't keep them all but IMO young Jacob Preston is the replica of Boyd Cordner.
Hard working, fearless and plays mature just like Boyd was at the similar age.
Cleaned up at the Mutts end of year awards.
Sadly, the one that got away..........

Clearly you were coming home from a huge night on the booze when you posted this; you’ll make more sense when you sober up.

Angus is a good player when he’s on, but at his best he’s not even close to Cordner; not even in the same postcode.

OK thanks for the update. It would be hard for him to knock back that offer. Only the Roosters could convince him to stay I guess.

I kind of get what your saying , gus was potentially a better athlete , however there was one major difference between the 2 ...Boyd cordner is old school tough , gus is not . not even close .

Boyd had zero interest in been a bondi hipster ....gus did .

It was either lose Preston, Jack Stringer and Zac Montgomery
                or
                Sandon Smith and Suia Wong

Gus was raiding last years Flegg team one way or another

I think we made the right choice....

Gould was after Preston , Stringer . Montgomery. Toia . Sandon Smith and Moriarty

Managed to sign 3 ( Preston, Stringer and Montgomery) but Jack Stringer returned mid season

The benefit of hindsight sure but blue chip investments are a commodity and keepsake. You do whatever possible to hold on to them.

Yep definitely cordner is an absolute legend! And certainly went in front of Gus
More saying I reckon Gus had a higher ceiling then cordner athletically and looked more promising around 21 or 22 but hasn’t got any better since and gone backwards! End of last season his form was close to it and has showed glimpses but not long enough during a season to warrant keeping him for $750k and loosing potential superstars
we need to lock up Wong and also Whyte and may so happy for Gus to go, end of last season his form may have been different

I've always thought Gillard looked like Tilda Swinton (in her ugliest of days).
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Wouldn’t put it past us to try and get him again. We are the Roosters, remember
                              EASTS TO WIN!
