I for one find it hard to believe that Carney would still be contracted to the club if the club intended to sack him.

Fair enough. The reports that he was drinking with the team members after the Storm slaughter and had a few too many suggests he knows he is RS.

Agreed. It's been a hard year for administration, particularly Steve Noyce, who has to be the front man.
It is no other club's business what we do.
I agree completely with Johnny Tobin.

          All of them.
errr.. so what you're saying is when the club signs an alcoholic, they expect him to remain an alcoholic? strong logic you have there

they expect him to change, be professional, be rehabilitated and like a new employee in a business develop more skills and value during his time there

              Where did he imply that?

The club was more then aware of what carney record held and the fact he screwed up over and over in canberra meant the expecatations were high and the club would have to go beyond.

                Always gives 100%.
Pity some of the players of recent years haven't had the same devotion.
Don't kid yourself. At the height of our shit this year ole Captain Media was sooking about in his number 11 jersey off to one side of the field not giving two farks about how the team was going. Many of us saw that lack of "commitment, devotion & loyalty" as a sign something was terribly wrong within the club, but also as a sign that Anasta was not doing what a captain should be doing in those circumstances and leading by example. The example he demonstrated was one of a heartless sook who didn't give a shit.

If you want to see how a captain in trying circumstances should act, go no further than Nathan Hindmarsh. That bloke busted his well cracked arse every bloody game for Parra, something Braith cannot attest to have emulated.

                Chook.

Roosters had no problem with Carney's late night drinking sessions in Atherton, or in Sydney in 2010. Noyce was also well aware Carney had been on the turps for weeks before his latest "indiscretion". It only appears to matter to the Roosters if it appears in the newspapers. I am still awaiting punishment for the other teammates who were drinking along with Carney/Myles/FPN...but unless they are named in the newspapers....

The simple truth is you only have to look at recent history to see the roosters are a bunch of pea-hearted primadonnas looking to blame anyone but themselves. The turnaround in form from chumps to champs after Freddy took over, followed by the wooden spoon in 2009 when they didn't like Freddy any more, was an absolute disgrace. People like JT think they are fixing the problem by blaming the likes of Freddy, Mason, Carney, but in reality they are actually part of the problem by not accepting the team lacks professionalism and accountability. It is the typical loser mentality of blaming someone else for your problems.

Then Braith gets to wear a leotard on the Mad Monday?

Diceman, I love that post so much I want to marry it, rename it Megan Gale, move to a nice cottage in Cornwall, England and raise a lot of little posts similar to it.

Thank you for your forthrightness and clarity.

Sorry Chook, I know he certainly hasn't got the work rate when he was in the forwards, be he was committed and without him the club would be a much larger shit fight of a mess.
Both he and Ryles were working hard off the field, training sessions and weights sessions etc to try get the commitment and attitude changed. Maybe or maybe not with ball in hand, but Anasta had a huge amount to do with the change in the last 4 games and I don't mean sooking to get rid of Carney.
Anasta is far from a sook and is one person we need around the club if we are going to build a better future.

Y'all might remember I named him "Captain Courageous" and applauded his appointment as said captain to guide us in the "New Attitude - New Beginning" campaign.

If the club has indeed signed a new and good 5/8 and he's to be a foward next year it needs to tell him so and get him onto the weights, pasta, legal protein powder [watch out for that 'hidden' banned ingredient], heaps of extra food...and build him up.

                            Utter nonsense again Bill

How low we have fallen when someone can suggest Anasta is "needed" at the Roosters!

The guy has underperformed for 6 years, swallowed a massive amount of cap money in the process, and up until a year or so ago was widely regarded as the most overrated player in the competition. That's not the case anymore, as now nobody rates him at all

Teams with poor halves fail, and Anasta is close to the worst, if not the worst, 5/8 in the NRL

Keeping him around because he sets a good example or is good for the culture is brain dead

Hey TOK, stop saying "we", it implies you are a supporter of this club and that is simply lying.

Yes we all know you don't support the Roosters. So please stay away with your negativity, anti-Politis, anti-Anasta, anti-Pearce, anti-board, anti-recruitment, and the rest of it. Why is it you never comment when the team wins or something positive happens?
