Tony Anasta is a leader I want at my club, regardless of what he is paid, and he is a good 5/8 and don't care what anyone rates him or not

JT, a great post - couldn't agree more.
Carney had every reason to succeed this season, after a great 2010 but chose to piss his season up against the wall instead, accompanied more often than not by fellow boofhead Myles.
And there is no reason why next year will be any different for Carney, no matter who he plays for.
It seems that the grog is more important to him than footy. And so is just the next headline waiting to happen, over and over again.
His attitude will ultimately cause divisions in any club he plays for, as it did at Canberra and the Roosters. It's just a matter of time.
NCSupporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

I wish we had smarter supporters than you mighty, but then every club has ones like you I suppose

Anasta is not the greatest 5/8 but he is not close to the worst and is streets ahead of players like Sutton.
Teabags, its not always about what happens on the field (although that is very important).
The shit that goes on behind the scenes matters a huge amount and the work that Anasta does off the field has been very important.
Whether anyone wants to believe it or not Anasta is an honorable man and puts in on and off the field. As does Ryles and Mini of late.
Anasta is the heart of the change over the last 4 weeks and his attitude (and a couple of others) is whats finally winning through the crap.
I don't really think the "anasta haters" will change their opinion, but think about this, everyone, with absolutely no exception that I know that has dealings with the club and sees what is happening from the junior level, the senior level to the sponsors etc will tell not you anything different about AnastaThe Internet is a place for posting silly things
Try and be serious and you will look stupid

So that's...a young man was going ok, then his best mate/father died, and he went off the rails with major issues that saw him end up with a rap sheet with more than one offence on it, including serious lawbreaking that under Skye's law today would see him needing a miracle to avoid jail, and serious alcohol-related anti-social behaviour that saw him banned from a whole rural town/city...but he was a good footballer on the field.
The NRL deregistered him.
Our club signed him. :-) he was still a young man.
2010 saw his behaviour off the field improve, no lawbreaking...and a Dally M medal his reward, and our club made the Grand Final.
2011 saw him break the law by going DUI having failed the breathalyser the next morning...and breach club alcohol ban rules twice for whatever reasons.
Once while injured [nothing 3 Tigers players didn't do]...and once during a ban that should never have been.
The club decided it didn't want him around anymore so he's being farewelled.
And the club is surprised by anything that happened?
Oh puhlease!
His behaviour has improved a lot off the field, no lawbreaking and no anti-social behaviour since the DUI event.
He just didn't quite make it to the standard the club, his employer demanded.Last edited by bondi-boy; 09-07-2011, 03:28 PM.

Either you're deludedly explaining away his lack of ability on the field by pointing out how he's an "honourable man" off it and is nice to the sponsors, or you actually believe the guy's worth what we've been paying him and that he's a viable 5/8 option for a team that's hoping to be competitive.
Either way Bill, you miss the mark
All your "honourable man" nonsense also ignores his appalling "re-sign me or it will destabilise the team" media campaign from earlier in the year
He's better than Sutton? Woo farkin hoo Bill!

Not often I agree with TOK. If you want a crack at the premiership then take a close look at the halves pairings in the top 8. Nearly every team has at least one game breaker in the halves.
It is no fluke that the only time we have been genuine contenders for the premiership is when we had a game breaker in the halves like Freddy or Carney.
