You see my real problem with this thread is JT and his usual bullshit that he goes on with. His band of merry men come running out of their hidey holes to pat him on the back for his big bold declerations of love for the club. He loves this club no more, and no less than the rest of us, but he jumps on here with his great big statments so his little buds can come along and say, Yeah we are with you!

It was not Anasta that did that, if anyone did it was his manager. If you knew the guy you would know that your comment could not be further from the truth. The things he does that you don't see are the big difference.

The worst part for me is that we'd harnessed Carney!!!! He was killing it and we were the lucky club. Dally M was such a poison chalice for him!!!!

I blame Carney, but also we failed to contain him and should have known better in hindsight. After the Dally M EVERYBODY acted as if he was a leader and had no problems IMO. He had biiig expectations:
- Lead the Chooks to a GF victory.
- Lead NSW Origin to a victory over QLD in Lockyer's last season.
- Become the next Kangaroos 5/8, punting off solid competition for a highly sought after generational position.
- Start drinking again and do so responsibly.
- Do all of this without an off-season while carrying a serious injury.
- Pull out a magic hat every game.
- Cop the stress of being the NRL's most known/media-loved player 24/7.

End of the day he has only himself to blame and I blame him for farking our season... BUT... in hindsight we probably could have predicted this, lowered our expectations and made sure we looked after him 200% of the time. I can only wonder what would have happened IF:
- We won the first few games and weren't desperate for him to come back in order to change our fortunes.
- His manager had picked him up or changed the time of that STUPID early morning meeting.
- Nate had been punted earlier.
- Watts hadn't bashed up his girlfriend that night, and instead had told Carney to find a woman to go home and soberly shag instead of drinking.
- Carney had played Origin and had a blinder.
...

I know there's no point reflecting, but in hindsight all of this pain could have been avoided/softened.

One thing I regret about last Sunday's game was that grub Smith and lead with my feet Slater werent on the field to be embarrassed. The idiotic media are writing how Melbourne were understrenght. I put it to you that the energy and mateship I saw in JWH, Anasta, Mini, BJ, Taka, Mose, Boydii, even Phil the Dill, Slater and Smith wouldnt have made a difference. And we did it without Marty, Conn, Aubbs SKiD and Pezz.
