He would have been on a pittance anyway so I can see him leaving allowing us to keep either Fergo or Toops, in saying that you can't keep them all. Tigers paying 500k for Connor is just plain lunacy but like Parra they seem to have to pay overs for players to go there.

In my opinion this is a good result. Watson is too good to languish in reserve grade or on the bench but he isn't going to make our top 17. I think he is well worth $500K and wish him the best.

I reluctantly agree. Agree that it is best to let him go as much as I hate the thought of him going to another club.

CW will be leaving at seasons end - Tigers or Knights - I suggest Tigers as with their recruitment they look a stronger side for 2018 than the Knights do - heard they had the Dragons down 28 to 10 at one stage and fell apart- not a club as yet you would want to go too I suggest as still a long to go in their rebuilding phase - Tigers have signed some decent players for 2018 and Cleary is a better coach that Brown to play under.

I suppose the part where he calls him a utility player is probably a bit of an untruth.

Connor is a 5/8 who can also cover fullback. Those are really his only 2 positions. Sure you can throw a 14 on his back and he'll make a fist of it at hooker or a roaming backrower, but those aren't comfortable positions for him and you wouldn't want him to ever play those positions regularly.

A true utility is someone like Materson who can fill in at lock, 2nd row, 5/8, and centre and excel in all of those positions.

Robbo was referring to his position within OUR team. Utility. Nothing wrong there.
Imo he is a fullback eventually. Not sure he has the vision of a Pearce or Keary for 5/8.

Like most of us on here, I have been a member of this site for years. In all that time I don't think I've come across another member that is so full of themselves as King Salvo. For someone to come out and proudly declare, "as I predicted" about something we are all well aware of because we also have been reading the papers, , just astounds me. It is actually rather funny

Doesn't have natural ball playing or kicking skills of a 5/8. Played his junior footy at fullback. Speed and the energy he brings are his greatest assets.

Being a Central Coast kid, the knights would of been a better fit, but they already signed young Ponga from cowboys.

I disagree. I see him as a utility because he can adequately cover a lot of positions. As you said, he can play 6 and do an adequate job at fullback. He was also close to man of the match playing hooker against the Tigers. That will do me for a utility.

I'm yet to see Matto excel at 5/8th or centre. He does a reasonable job in both positions but 'you wouldn't want him to ever play those positions regularly'

I think he is good enough play maker that you can put him in a bunch of positions and he'll go reasonably well, but still well below his potential level as a half. I also wouldn't want to use any game we play against the tigers as a yardstick. They are our bitches and we just smash them all the damned time (not to mention they also suck this year)

I think Materson has had some good games at centre. Second row and centre are very similar positions after all.
