I don't know what the fix is but this just ain't working to the benefit of the game.
Each club gets 1 marquee player, exempt from salary cap to earn as much as he likes.
Smart clubs will nominate a player ie. JWH one year, pay him big $$$ then the next year nominate a different player ie Cordner. This way clubs can keep a team together by signing them to decent money and allowing them for 1 yr to top up there earnings significantly.
I think it's a good option to look at.

Just don't want that pea heart at the club. Massive ego and attitude problem.
Why invest the money and time into Pearce, Maloney and RTS to sign Cooper who may be a good half in league but definitely a flop at fullback.
Only the real special union halves can convert to league and be a success.

Some may say bad luck & it's easy to say that if your club is not on the chopping block.
At the end of the day IMO if Rugby League wants to be able to pay each players 1 million plus per season then the comp could probably only generate enough money for about 6 clubs.
So yes the salary cup disadvantages the super clubs but it would be pretty boring with only 6 teams in the comp.

Welcome Quade. If sonny is prepared to give back half of his salary to the club to make Quade a rooster this will happen. This is a very good gesture by sonny,so much for him being driven by money anybody who is prepared to give a few hundred thousand dollars away so that a mate can play in the same footy team is not a mercenary imo.

1. RTS
6. Cooper
7. Pearce
9. Maloney
13. SBW
Seeing as pearce will chuck a tantrum if he plays anywhere but no. 7, Maloney at hooker to replace to 'slow' and 'stupid' service friend gives.
And if copper does sign, that has to be the end of minichiello. He can't keep running around with 3 marquee players squashed into 2 spots and a potential super star on the wing
