Yes, so true. Who would have imagined Hugo's trajectory.
We're investing in DCE's football intellect more so than his playing abilities.
They had to go and and buy an old hack from wooden spooners and now Fogarty. No sign of any young kid coming through. Their best left for Souffs.
We are doing fine with who we have mentoring these kids. Yes Cronk is going but he was there once a week from reports. The way Sammy has played so far this year he has added controlling the game to his arsenal and Hugo also has similar instincts. Just because we lost games this year when Townsend and Sandon were playing many think we can't close out games. The Sammy/Hugo combo has put that to rest.
If DCE comes as a halves coach just to get out of a bind then so be it otherwise ICGAFF if he never sets foot in the club.

The next 3 weeks will be very interesting. I wonder if he will retire or look to the ESL instead.

Last night on NRL360, Anasta floated the idea that DCE could be coming for 1 season on $500k - if this is indeed the case and that he has a "team first" mentality (and willing to play reserve grade if his form warrants), then I would be in the "yes" camp.

DCE in my opinion could only lay claim to being mentoring and depth role like you suggest. There is no way I would be replacing the last five weeks Hugo with the last five weeks DCE next year. Hugo’s getting better and better by the game and DCE realistically will find it tough to do that next year.

Hopefully the potential of DCE playing NSW cup next season is enough to see him pull the pin and retire.
Warnie had just retired from cricket, and said at the time that he had lost motivation for the game after 16 seasons. He said the grind of training, team sessions , etc was getting him down.
So he asked around for advice - I think he said it was Ian Chappelli who told him - you would rather have everyone say to you “ why did you retire ? “ ( when you are at the top of your game) rather than everyone say “ why didn’t you retire?”
That helped Warnie make up his mind.
If DCE had any sense, he would take a leaf out of Warnie’s book.
