As for the dramas at Manly. This is all DCE doing! The fact that he hasn't announced where he's going next season is selfish and has destabilised his teams season. What a little prick!

The best indicator of where he's at is SOO. There were no dramas and he was surrounded by world class players and still failed. QLD replace him and they go on to win the next 2 games and the series.

Time to give it up and jump on board the Hugo and Sammy bus which has transformed our season and has opposition looking over their shoulder.
Weren't you on Team DCE after they beat the Storm?

Sammy/Hugo combo are 4-0. They seem to go ok together. May it continue until Toby is ready.

    FFS

Edit. Hugo has actually only played 1120 minutes in the halves this year. 14 games and won 10 of them with unfortunate losses to the Dogs and Raiders. Not bad for rookie.

Looking at these stats you can see that despite a shocking 4-5 weeks DCE still beats Hugo in almost everything, Hugo is slightly less error prone and slightly better in defence this year but DCE beats him with in play kicking, playmaking and funnily enough even running game which is odd as running isn't really DCE's expertise especially at 36 years old.

Furthermore, Hugo plays at a better team with better players surrounding him, doesn't have the media pressure, doesn't have the Origin dropping or inner club turmoil playing on his mind or anything like that, DCE does.

You guys really don't think that DCE comes next year and looks much better in our team? No media pressure, no toxicity, no Origin dropping, a team that 1-17 is probably better than Manly and a much better halves partner? I think all signs point to yes, he would do better. Worst case scenario if he plays as bad as he has this year he's still better than Hugo statistically anyway...

Pro rata them for the games started in the halves to make a fair comparison.

EVERY PLAYER EVER (excl C smith) has been shot at 35.

Yes. The Storm game gave me motion sickness so I was open to the idea.

Enter Sammy and Hugo. This pairing has transformed the way we play so no need to panic and sign DCE.

I was on Team DCE after the Storm game but that was before we finally saw Walker and Savala together.

They have different roles in their respective sides. Sam is our Cherry Evans, Hugo plays a different role altogether. Hugo has half a season of first grade under his belt.

The only stat that matters - Manly have made the top 4 ONCE in the last 10 seasons.

Imagine if we went through 10 seasons with just one top 4 finish, what an absolutely disastrous period for the club that would be seen as. And you want to sign the 37 year old who has led his him team to that??

But I acknowledge you are beyond help on this matter
Ohhhh Sam is our Cherry-Evans is he? That's odd because so many people here have been saying that Hugo will be the playmaking 6 with the good kicking game that tackles well which is exactly what DCE has made a career out of but once Hugo is challenged he's meant to be the player with low try assists, running metres etc.

Bates was indeed Team DCE for about 2 weeks, he has backflipped on the topic more times than DCE has backflipped on big money deals.

That moment of weakness happened for me too, but I’m well and truly over it now. The Walker/Savala combo has been a revelation. No to DCE.

              • in his presser today robbo was asked about whether or not dce should retire and he played a straight bat, not repeating the mantra that 'nothing's changed in our attitude to the matter' but not implying that the club was no longer interested. he was then asked if dce will play another 50 games to make 400 and he dodged the question not insignificantly, saying anything's possible if you've got self belief and that him and ben hunt could do that. he then went on to praise the combo that hugo and sammy were creating.
it was not the comments of a coach laying out the welcome mat

Club upgraded Hugo *long term* with the extra money it was expected DCE would command.

Two for the price of one.
Who's the "master of the deal"?

                            • I have no problem with taking DCE at $500k. But he would still be behind Hugo and Sammy. With Robson playing big minutes and Connor at #14, the bench would be very thin with either Hugo or DCE on it.

                              • DCE is currently on $1 mill a season.
Manly offered DCE $800k to play next season and he knocked it back.
Will the NRL accept that he's now only worth $500k a season and register his contract?
Will the club make an official statement now that Rothfield has made the specifics of the deal public?
