  • Welcome DCE - Done deal according to Phil Rothfield.

Apparently the deal was penned 10 weeks ago.

I don’t think DCE would have announced he’s leaving manly unless he already had a done deal in writing. I can appreciate having him as a halves coach but playing? I wouldn’t like Hugo to be playing in lower grades as we very much need his talents.

Q: With Cherry Evans leading the team, how many times have Manly made the top 4 in last 10 seasons?

      A: Once

Q: How many grand finals have Manly played in in the last 10 seasons?

      A: Zero

One of the stupidest signings in the history of this club. And that's saying something.

Really hope he’s not going to be another Chad Townsend….another year wasted

Irrespective of the fact that Townsend was bought to this Club as a back up or to mentor the younger players,it has turned out as a complete brain dead decision..

Add it to the list of embarrassing recruitment decisions over the past few years, yet no one is held accountable it seems..

Just what we need a 37year old over the hill halfback hopefully he goes better than Chad did Robson is a great signing though we need a top shelf hooker watch him tighten up the middle next year

If he’s a rooster, I wish him well.

my only issue is if he plays well for the year and we go reasonably well, then we go back to a new halves pairing the year after with an unproven combination.

smarter people know what they are aiming for, so can only hope that we see some results.

Waste of salary cap space! Waste of a roster position! Waste of player development if we lose Hugo, in particular! Waste of brain cells even considering signing this guy!

Trent, you are a great coach, and you have done some great signings over the years, but you have also made mistakes, and if this is true it is far and away your biggest one! This will lead to no good, and possibly a lot of bad!

Not a fan, but glad it’s only a year if it happens.

                    It was inevitable.

                    Welcome Chad mkII.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

DCE could well be the most expensive whipping boy we've had in recent times if he fails to perform. His game management will be an asset as will his kicking game. That's about it as he doesn't tend to dig into the line as much as he once did. Self preservation which is only natural at his age.

All the playmaking will be on Sammy's shoulders!

Robbo will need to modify his playing system which isn't a bad thing imo as we're playing way too loose for the 6 again era.

DCE will be with the roosters for years to come . A short playing stint and then followed by a long coaching career. Don’t be surprised if he is Robbo's successor.

So do you think DCE will be picking Egan Butcher each week too?

I like DCE but I don’t see that happening. I reckon he’ll be similar to Cronk and have his head in the media aswell. Doesn’t strike me as a full-time day to day coach.
