that said, we could have done better. lindsay called for the review cos he knew he'd been hit in the melon. he should have made it clear that he'd been hit in the melon by saying 'i've been hit in the ****en melon' and by bringing his arm up to his head re-creating what happened. hard for the bunker to miss it then. if we're going to call for reviews that highlight foul play even though we know there's no knock on (which i don't have a problem with) then we have to be all in.
and while we're at it, makes sense to have a review of whether or not the players stay down when they know they've been fouled. yes, there are reasons to play the game in the right spirit but not when nobody else does and it pisses us of when we lose out of it. plus, refs factor into their decisions whether or not a player has appealed for a foul. they assume that players will appeal for fouls and when they don't they can assume that no foul has been committed
So does it mean if Blake Taaffe dropped the ball before copping a forearm on his chin then it wouldn't have even been a penalty let alone a send off for Dom Young ? In Collins case the knock on negated the forearm he copped flush on his face
Like the Cheese hip drop. He should have riled around in agony forcing the game to stop. No injury fake or otherwise, no penalty.
No no, there was clearly no intent in that tackle. Unlike the previous week where Radley viciously dropped his full weight onto chricton’s ankles. Apples and oranges
What about Gagai’s quick tap and knock on after running 10m + being called back and given a kick for touch due to no quick taps for foul play? I thought it was for holding down or inside 10 in the 40m. Fox didn’t show his signal.
What ticked me off the most about that one is that if gagai had run the length and scored, they wouldn’t have called it back. He would’ve been rewarded for ‘playing the whistle’ and taking advantage of the ref’s error. But soon as he knocks it on, the ref couldn’t wait to call it back (incorrectly) to give the knights another crack

And the ref was running with the play and it looked like he signalled play on until Gagai lost the ball then pulled it back saying he couldn’t take a quick tap.

Great question. Would love the NRL to answer this.
Before our game I thought the answer was obvious, now after the inaction from the bunker on Thursday you could say it's fair game after an error.
i saw that and said noway thats a try but , yep its a try. last night the storm got the drop kick clock turned off so they could retrieve the ball. been a screw fest since we stood up to murdock and his cronies.

That was a strange one.
100%.
It's clear as day that Sutton allows Gagai to play on then recoils once Gagai loses possession.

Unbelievable I thought it was the players responsibility to retrieve the ball! The club needs to send a strongly worded letter of complaint about all these incidents to Annesley. It’s beyond a joke and yet the media would have us believe it was Newcastle that was hard done by.
Also worth noting that the quick tap farce resulted in one our players failing a HIA and therefore missing next week. Sitili isn't the greatest defender in the first place but he didn't have time to adjust himself correctly so just got himself in the way to make sure Gagai didn't streak through and score... ends up putting on a good shot and forces a knock on and then the cheat let's him retake the tap so it's all in vein after all.
So we get dudded by them getting a 2nd chance after a blatant knock on and we lose a player because of what was essentially an illegal play that should never have happened in the first place according to the ref? Can't have it both ways.

Good observation.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.
