It was very cold here yesterday with strong gusty icy winds and sideways rain on and off all day. Today, the winds have eased off, the sun is out and it’s a pleasant winter’s day of about 10 degrees.

Icy winds in Sydney today, was thinking of heading out to the Shute Shield Grand Final today at Leichhardt but after spending five minutes out in the garden i might re think that.

Snow in Mt Victoria, Blackheath, Oberon and Orange this morning. Also noticed that Brindabella's copped a good dusting down in ACT/ NSW border.

That is crazy. I just decided to do a google. Looks like our rainfall this year is pretty much on average. We’ve had a bit over 300mm to date this year and the average per year is 600. Also Jun-Aug is our driest months. So nothing out of the ordinary here apparently it’s just when you see and hear about all the rain down the coast line and in Sydney you think you’re missing out. Also for the past 3 years we’ve had more rain than usual due to La Niņa or whatever it’s called so I’ve obviously forgotten what it’s like to have a normal Canberra rain year.

Seemed liked we were in another world weather wise once we hit Goulburn, no clouds or rain, it was around the time Goulburn was down to about 10% water capacity, i have never seen the weather change so dramatically in the space of a couple of kilometres.

It’s crazy isn’t it. I mean the New Year’s Day test is now frequently losing time to rain.
