I was reading an article with evidence over the last 5 years that this could be the case Mind you 5 years is a small selective sample

Can't remember what year it was but it was fair while ago i caught the supporters bus from Sydney down to Canberra for a Swans game, left Sydney, it was horrible torrential rain, was cold misty and raining when the bus pulled in at Suttons Forest, was still raining till we got just about to Goulburn and then there was clear blue skies, weather was good in Canberra, on the way back weather was great until just north of Goulburn and then it was raining and horrible just like the trip down.
Seemed liked we were in another world weather wise once we hit Goulburn, no clouds or rain, it was around the time Goulburn was down to about 10% water capacity, i have never seen the weather change so dramatically in the space of a couple of kilometres.

It’s crazy isn’t it. I mean the New Year’s Day test is now frequently losing time to rain.

It must have something to do with proximity to the ocean. That’s all I can think of. We’re more inland or something. You guys must be so over it though. I like a bit of rain but to have it so often would get really depressing after a while.

We had 410mm in July and so far, 300 up till 9am this morning with 60mm predicted today in Husky . Normal average is about 110mm each of those months. So close to 800mm instead of 200mm . Crazy wet

to some time at the beach

That is crazy. I just decided to do a google. Looks like our rainfall this year is pretty much on average. We’ve had a bit over 300mm to date this year and the average per year is 600. Also Jun-Aug is our driest months. So nothing out of the ordinary here apparently it’s just when you see and hear about all the rain down the coast line and in Sydney you think you’re missing out. Also for the past 3 years we’ve had more rain than usual due to La Niña or whatever it’s called so I’ve obviously forgotten what it’s like to have a normal Canberra rain year.

                    • Meanwhile, it’s cold, overcast, drab and very, very light occasional drizzly here today. In other words a crap miserable day.

                          • Icy winds in Sydney today, was thinking of heading out to the Shute Shield Grand Final today at Leichhardt but after spending five minutes out in the garden i might re think that.

Snow in Mt Victoria, Blackheath, Oberon and Orange this morning. Also noticed that Brindabella's copped a good dusting down in ACT/ NSW border.

                            • It was very cold here yesterday with strong gusty icy winds and sideways rain on and off all day. Today, the winds have eased off, the sun is out and it’s a pleasant winter’s day of about 10 degrees.

The ABC showed a great ariel shot of Tuggeranong with the Brindabella's in the background with a dusting of snow.

Just glad i'm not in Orange this weekend, the main street looked bleak with the snow and sleet and rain on todays news.
