They will eradicate Australia day, and Anzac day among others. Think about it.
That's really serious. Only Peter Dutton can save us!!

Zzzz...
Like a significant percentage of Australians, I've already voted and did not do so under some weird@rse false belief that Dutton's our saviour (and that Albo's team have somehow destroyed our country by focusing more on social policies, while getting inflation / interest rates under control after ScoMo failed to contain inflationary pressures during his term).
In response to Dutton's question about whether I've been better off since Abbott, Turnbull and ScoMo farked off... yes. I'm doing great thanks. Thoroughly happy with where Australia's at and am in no way interested in us bootlicking the Donald thank you.

i'm not a scientist but it seems like pretty much all scientists, the people who have spent their lives studying these things, agree that human induced climate change is real.
the world is transitioning away from carbon based energy so it's also an economic decision for us to get on board. no doubt the devil is in the detail, but saying that climate change isn't real doesn't sound right.
labor won't be a party to eradicate an australia day. there will always be an australia day. the date might change but so what? personally i'm ambivalent about changing the date, but if there's support for changing it then i'd be on board.
labor be a party to eradicate anzac day? do you really believe that? that's just nutty.

Changing the date will do nothing to appease the perpetually outraged/offended. They would keep going until you have to hand over all your property to the stone age mob.
I hear the names Albo, Dutton & Clive Parmer but no one else, I had to look up the Greens leader Bandt.
I posted this before that in my time as an adult it hasnt mattered which political party is in power my life has remained good so for me who ever is the Prime Minister it doest matter.
Its not the political parties that make Australia the best country in the world its the people of Australia that make it the best.
1 more thing its laughable that you would think that all Australians would have to hand back over all that we own.

The latest UGov poll indicates that the majority of voters can't cop Dutts to the point where the primary vote for the Libs is 33.5%, the lowest ever. The 2pp vote is now 53.5 ALP to 46.5 Lib. Pollsters say that it's mostly because of the ogre "impression" that Dutts has managed to convey to people.
What interested me more was the male/female voting patterns.Almost 20% of women will vote Green compared to 9% of men.
That bullshit macho pose that the Murdoch media specialises in is attractive to the many male meatheads around who either don't see the constantly emerging confidence of women in our society or are, as with so much else, in denial. Females see implications but pathetic powerless blokes stick with the media fools having given no thought to anything much - if the truth be known Oz "men" are frightened, almost emasculated conformists, mostly too thick to reason an opinion. I often hear of couplings like a female Doctor/Engineer and a greenkeeper/t truck driver hubby.
Aus jock blokes, generally, are ignorant of most issues by choice. Unreasonably self obsessed but frightened and threatened by life they tend to huddle around the campfires of their oppressors, taking up the oppressors' Right wing self serving nonsense, too dumb to realise that doing so is abrogating their own economic self interests. The rationale seems to be, "Oh, I'm a dill am I? well fcuk youse I'm not!!". I don't suggest anything other than you and Randy (forget those others, they're beyond redemption) are examples of those who are essentially thinking people but who have succumed to media anti Green bias. No need to sweat it, it has been so intense for so long that it is almost a conventional wisdom. It's called The Illusory Truth Effect - if a lie is repeated often enough, it will become accepted as fact.
You comments (and Randy's) re The Greens indicate reluctance, even rejection, probably because the media lies compliment your financial interests and that is the reason for most of the ejection.
I have also said in the past that Australia benefits from a strong conservative party with clear policies that challenges the opposition-which i still believe. I like balance in the political field, its healthy for democracy.
Look at the ludicrous situation in the US with the Republians tanking everything they touch yet the Democrats are so useless they can hardly make a dent in public opinion. Thats not healthy for democracy- its giving a autocrat a free run

You have taken my comment about myself having no influence on my 2 sons voting Green and twisted it into something that it is not. The Greens support has increased because they have moved on from being a "party of protest" and have come up with strong policies- which is in my opinion attracting a lot of young voters support
It sounds illogical but these people can then swing to the hard right when they 'grow up' and start saying 'the REAL reason why we're farked is because migrants are taking all the jobs!!! I was a fool to bathe their feet as they all stabbed me in the back and stole my jobs/housing opportunities!!! Ban em!!!'
IMO it's a story of 'the extremes'.Last edited by ism22; 04-27-2025, 01:24 PM.

It wasn't so much a dig as it was an illustration MR. Most of us are conditioned to live by the media and believe what it tells us. It is pretty much inescapable and the consensus in our media, which is owned by the rich and powerful, is a conservative one, the hacks' job being to align the public with their bosses' interests, business and philosophical. I'm not saying that you and Randy are dullardsbut I think that you, like the majority of folk, have been influenced in a negative way (perhaps unconsciously) re The Green movement.
When you talk about management credentials, those of the majors are nothing to celebrate. What you forget is that no party micromanages Government administration. That job is assigned to professional, trained bureaucrats who actually design the administration of government policy. The Bureaucracy is from where Australia is really ruled and we are good at it as we have 200+ years of public admin and of being a mixed economy. A Green Government would rely on our public service as the others also do.Last edited by Paddo Colt 61; 04-27-2025, 05:21 PM.

Yeah I’m a Canberran and ex public servant - who worked for a department considered vitally important by the Liberal Party. So I’m biased but why do we have to go the Canberra bashing route every time? It’s my home and public servants need to feed their families and pay bills too. And our cost of living is one of the highest in the country. There’s an example of long time media stereotyping of a city and its people.
