Interesting stats - tackle efficiencyOriginally posted by DP1990 View Post
1. Teddy
2. Toops
3. Sua'ali'i (at some point)
4. Manu
5. Paulo (he's a right side winger)
I would like to give Billy Smith another crack but he's hanging on by a bandage thread and I just can't see him playing consistently at 100% fitness/health. Momirovski doesn't deserve a spot in our backline (he hasn't done shit to earn that), I would rather give that spot to someone new with potential to see what he can offer i.e. Paulo).
Paulo 81% - 157 tackles made and 36 missed tackles
Tupou - 80% - 67 tackles made and 17 missed tackles
Suaalii -68% - 82 tackles made and 38 missed tackles
Manu - 84% - 332 tackles made and 63 missed tackles
Momirovski - 86% - 242 tackles made and 42 missed tackles
Billy Smith - 84% - 78 tackles made and 15 missed tackles
Walker - 83% - 393 tackles made and 82 missed tackles
Keary - 91% - 398 tackles made and 40 missed tackles
Hutch - 92% - 418 tackles made and 36 missed tackles
Roosters Tries conceded
35% left side - 22% middle - 43% right side
Roosters Tries Scored
43% left side - 24% middle - 33% right sideLast edited by King Salvo; 10-10-2022, 12:32 PM.

It's a strange one as the Broncos and Warriors were both paying him in 2022 and the Warriors also paid him out for 2023 - paid $ 700 k overall for 18 months by the Warriors alone- not sure about what the Bronco's were paying.Originally posted by weplayforprems View Post
I reckon we will find a way to keep lodge. He’s still getting paid by the Warriors next year so we should be able to get one more year for 300-350k
The NRL had a nominal value for him at 20k a game for his short stint at the Roosters- so that's 480k over a full season which maybe what value the NRL will place on him for salary cap purposes even if the Roosters sign him for less.
No finalised CBA as yet to know what the salary cap will be for both NRL and NRLW for the next 5 years so some NRL players and all NRLW players in limbo in not being able to field offers and sign contracts.
Pretty poor that the new CBA has not been finalised one has to sayLast edited by King Salvo; 10-10-2022, 12:46 PM.

Interesting. At a guess I would have thought Momo’s stats would have been similar to Sualli’s. I guess it might have been some poor misses that stuck out in my head. They were very poor misses….Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

Maybe so but Manu and Suaalii's also had some very poor misses in D as well - Manu's old rushing out of the line and tackling no one and Suaalii's coming in when staying out in D was requiredOriginally posted by Serenader View Post

Certainly low tackles counts for regular wingers - Sivo had the lowest tackle count for a winger with 38 tackles made and 10 missed tackles
In the end though the Roosters had the 5th best D and the 3rd best Offence so room for improvement as individuals and as a team.

I thought the notional value has been removed this year, not sure how it works when his contract has been paid out but surely we can sign at a lower amount than $480kOriginally posted by King Salvo View Post

The Nominal Value is still in play as imagine if a club could sign the best x number of players for under's for one season in an attempt to win a comp.Originally posted by BigCok007 View Post

The Salary cap auditor has the option of valuing a player at a nominal value for salary cap purposes irrespective of what a club has signed the player for to avoid such situations of squad stacking.
The NRL placed a nominal value of 20k per game on Lodge for his Roosters contract for salary cap purposes despite what other clubs were still paying him so one assumes it would be the same rules for any 2023 contract - i.e contract valued for salary cap purposes as the higher of either the actual contract amount or the players nominal value.

Hopefully Momo hits the tackling bags big time until March. His grab high & let go tackles are bad technique & you would think Robbo will sort this out because if not then why the hell was he signed again.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

I've never seen a more insipid performance in tackling in 1st grade in his match up with Staggs. It was boys against men stuff.
He is far better on the wing with the sideline helping him out.

Yeah agreed, but at the same time it’s potentially unfair to the player. If another club is already covering their wage and another club has to pay almost the same amount… what’s the incentive to pick them up if you don’t have time to make cap space.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

Here’s the article I was thinking of….
The 27-year-old was paid out by the Warriors to exit early, whilst the Broncos were also chipping in on his salary.
Add in the notional wage that was agreed upon for him to make the mid-season switch, and Kent believes Lodge may have earned a pay-rise.
“I think Matt is desperate to stay, and the good news for Matt is they put a notional value on him for this year, I think it was about $18,000-per-game,” Read said.
“There won’t be one put on him next year, which helps the Roosters keep him, because Lodge, as long as the contract isn’t a ‘take the mickey contract’ then the NRL will register it.

In 2023 for Lodge for an example
Even though the Warriors have paid Lodge out his wage for 2023 will be included in their salary cap for 2023. - 500k or so - Chooks could sign him for $100k for 2023 if approved by the NRL - only this 100k wage is counted towards the Roosters salary cap in 2023 for salary cap player payment purposes.
Chooks are thus getting a 500k player for 100k and the Warriors have 500k less of the salary cap funds to spend on players.
I remember when the Chooks signed Todd Payten from the Raiders - both the Chooks and Raiders were paying him ( 50% each) - When he was released to go the Wests Tigers he was being paid by 3 clubs I recall although I did read something about how it wasn't costing Wests Tigers a cent since the Chooks and Raiders were paying him?
Maybe why they have nominal values on players when they switch clubs?

The Tigers have released Oliver Gildart from his final year contract for 2023.
I personally dont rate Gildart because he's not big enough or tough enough.
Could he be a good player in the NRL with regular footy with a strong club?
Maybe at Melbourne.
Should the Chooks go after him?
Its a no from me.

I don't think we need him, at this point I think the only player we need to actively be pursuing is a contract renewal from Matt Lodge.Originally posted by Mickie Lane View PostThe Tigers have released Oliver Gildart from his final year contract for 2023.
