Toops
Suaalii
Manu
Smith ..... will he play again?
Momo
Paulo ... did he sign up?
Gildart.. is he staying ?
Carr
Keighran
I think that's our stock of outside backs, plus Hutch and Watson as possible fill ins. It certainly doesn't fill me with confidence. Especially with the injury history of Smith, and the aging of Toops. Only 3 genuine stars in Toops, Suaalii and Manu. Momo certainly was underwhelming this season, I like Paulo and if Smith can finally get a full season..... but that's a BIG IF.
I think we might struggle again if we are hit by injury. If Teddy or Keary of JWH go down for any extended time we will be also rans.

Carr and Keighran have no contract for 2023 - I think Keighran will be moving on as interest from a few teams in signing him and Carr not sure as he was on an extended bench contract in 2022.
I think they will be more than okay for players in both the backs and forwards to be a serious contender for the title - They just need to improve on the basics and get to a level of 80 minutes of footy that they can sustain week in week out.
Penrith are the bench mark and the only side that manage to play 80 minute games week in week out - that is the level they need to achieve - Short pre-season but they won't be the only club affected by RLWC.
Penrith for an example have 20 players involved in the RLWC - 13 of their regular 17 and maybe 14 if Luke will be the replacement for Koroisau
Players will play between 3 and 6 games depending on how far their team progresses in this tournament.

Shiiit, if we have lost Carr, Keighran and Gildart we will definitely need to pick someone up as that leaves us very exposed.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

Interesting one for Keighran... if the Dolphins were interested then I'd argue he could get some solid time in the halves.Originally posted by King Salvo View Post

That said, in all probability he wouldn't, and would get a reputation of 'couldn't even get a run at the Dolphins' instead of 'a handy backup at the Roosters'.
I know this isn't a Dolphins thread but I feel rather than marquee players (of whom they have many), one of their challenges will be attracting solid development/backup players who are looking to grow their careers.

Smith will be back and I hope his run of injuries is coming to an end.
Karawalevu is playing in the world cup. He's ~21 and raw but maybe we'll see him in 2023? I feel like the fact we're willing to persist with him despite the fact he has no idea how to play footy is a sign of hope. Maybe. (Guessing he's still better at footy than Gildart, Hall and Joe Burgess combined... I much prefer potential over somebody who's peaked at mediocrity).
Gildart? I thought he was keen to stay. Be nice to have a cheapie player who can slot-in when asked.
What's our pecking order assuming everybody's fit?
1. Teddy
2. Toops
3. Sua'ali'i (at some point)
4. Manu
5. Smith / Momirovski
Hutcho (can slot-in at centre), Sitili (same - can play centre) and maybe Karawalevu down the trackLast edited by ism22; 10-10-2022, 10:30 AM.

I would like to give Billy Smith another crack but he's hanging on by a bandage thread and I just can't see him playing consistently at 100% fitness/health. Momirovski doesn't deserve a spot in our backline (he hasn't done shit to earn that), I would rather give that spot to someone new with potential to see what he can offer i.e. Paulo).
