  • Tallis accuses Roosters of cheating the cap

The question as a life long supporter I have for you guys is…….
Would you rather see the roosters win comps and be over the cap or stay under the cap and be mid table?
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

We don't cheat the cap so the question is irrelevant. We have let many players go and Tallis and co conveniently dismiss that . Some players actually do play for less just to be here, and Lodge is the most recent example. So for me F#ck Tallis

Tallis physically resembles a fat insect with those awful bug eyes bulging out of his big, fat, stupid pus-filled head.

He needs a good spray of Mortein or Pea Beu right into his face.

On NRL360 last night. Braith Anasta explained how players are attracted to the Roosters not just for the money and the potential of winning a premiership. It’s the connections they make with members of the board etc that can set them up for life after they retire. Braith didn’t just get the gig on Foxtel for his looks. He had help from connections he made at our club.
Not that rival fans will want to believe this but it was good of Braith to say it.
Thank you Braith for pouring water onto Tallis accusations and Buzz as well.

I cant believe we have been doing it for so long and have yet to be caught

            True AW!
I would hazard to say IF we were cheating the cap PV, Abdo and co would be all over uncle Nick like white on rice.
If tallis wants to point the finger, maybe he’d be better looking at the dogs- previous cap cheats and man they have bought some cattle of late!

I'm pretty sure we have been fined in the past for being over - not by a huge amount but enough for a slap on the wrist.

Eventually endemic cheaters get caught. There a plenty of examples in sport but also in other areas of life and business.
These people/businesses become so blasé about their actions that they drop their guards, think they're bigger and better than the rest and eventually get caught.

I'm sure the Roosters use all of the creative accounting abilities at their disposal to get the maximum out of the salary cap and third party payments.
If they are or have been doing it outside of the rules then they will eventually get caught but until that time, I'll be in the camp that thinks we are an organisation that
offers far more than just contract dollars and the smart guys who play football, or their managers will gravitate towards a successful organisation.

Going to the Roosters for 10-15% under what you could get at another club will be repaid 10-fold over life if you take the opportunities offered post playing career.

As for the question posted by Trewhella, I'd rather be mid table than cheat the system.

As for Gordon Tallis, every circus pays someone to be the clown!

I'd consider taking legal action if I were the club given we get levied with unfounded accusations by people with a platform in the media. Doesn't shock me because Tallis is a Rooster hater, like most people are.

Given he's been so wildly successful in his culture and performance role at the Titans, particularly with player recruitment, I do consider him to know what he is talking about when it comes to roster management. Bloke's an oracle and his words should be taken as gospel.

I hope we sign Haas in the next couple of weeks.

Nothing new. Before the start of every new season, the Rooster bashing starts like clockwork. Anything to try and destabilise the club in any which way they can.

Just because the club isn't doing anything inherently illegal, doesn't mean they aren't rorting. All that money and post league life stuff to buy premierships. I know how I'd rather win premierships.

Working out nicely thanks. Glad my club isn't despised by the rest of the league for stealing players and not having a junior base.

Listened to Mark Bouris on James Graham's podcast. He explained how the players have access to the expertise and knowledge of board members such as himself and Nick and that this can help players prepare for life outside footy. He told the story of how Connor Watson had contacted him to set up a meeting to discuss his side business he has with Kalyn Ponga and it's that sort of expertise which we sell as one of the benefits of signing with the Roosters. The Bulldogs might have offered a player $700k and we might offer them $600k a season but we can sell them on the shortfall by saying we can help make sure that they make the most of that $600k, reduce your tax, make sure it's invested so that one day in the future the $600k is worth exponentially more than the Bulldogs offer. Other fans don't get this and when it's explained they think it's still 'rorting the cap'.
