A million dollar prop would certainly have an ongoing impact on your cap and squad depth taking into account they have a few players already on 750k plus plus they are not able to register Crichton contract.
The Roosters haven't had 30 player squads the past few years and have relied greatly on low wage players and those on development and extended bench contracts.

They would not listen,
They're not listening still...........
Perhaps they never will.
IF Haas ever darkens our door..............he won't be on anywhere near a million, despite what fox is trying to spin.
Is he after more money from bronco pty ltd??????
I don't think so.

Exactly.
At 22yrs he has at least 10yrs left in the game. He is a franchise player. He would love to come here and be in the best coaching system, with SBW and all the trimmings as a rooster.
Brandon Smith took unders to come here too.
After being booed last night I think he would now want out.

The benifits of coming to the roosters goes further then just money.
He could take less money and still be way better off in the long run.

I realise all of that.
But we are talking about a very special player.
My maths:
SST = $655 (Zero tackle)
Angus = $720 (Zero tackle)
= $1.375 million
Why not a Haas on 800 / 900k and a 400k edge backrower?

That's how other teams have got themselves into trouble i.e Dogs and Tigers - paying overs for players and having to fill squad spots with players not at NRL level or at NRL level long term to cover for injuries/suspensions and what not.
Their results show this is not a workable arrangements or an option that will result in success.Last edited by King Salvo; 05-28-2022, 02:01 PM.

Its all about money. I dont think he cares where he plays so long as he gets his 1m a season.
The Broncos are also a top team who are definitely on the up so its not like the Chooks are the best side & the Broncos are hopeless.
Dont get me wrong if the Chooks can some how swing it & land his signature for 800k I would be stoked.

They work on the cap in advance - Schubert would have a spread sheet with all these details on players wages etc - 2023/2024/2025 seasons at leastLast edited by King Salvo; 05-28-2022, 01:59 PM.

Last year we had a couple million dollars worth of players retire unexpectedly. That was not part of any plan or any spreadsheet. We were able to use some of that money to sign Cheese next year. We don't know where the rest of the money went. For all we know Robbo could be front-loading contracts this year to free up money going forward. It would make sense to do that for someone like JWH who is retiring soon.
Also the talk of Haas chasing a $1m salary is nonsense. He is chasing compensation for prior year underpayment.
You can talk about all the young forwards we have until the cows come home, but it has been big dog JWH who has straightened up our forward pack in recent times. Much the same way Haas did it last night vs Titans. He would be the perfect replacement for JWH and worth every scent of the $800k (not $1m) that he would be asking.
