One thing Brandon Smith said when he signed, is that he loved how the Roosters don’t speak about signings with the media. They took him through the back doors to avoid media speculations . If we are interested in Hass of course we will deny it. Also not a very good negotiation tactic to appear over keen.

Hi Thirteen, I think it was Gould who said he was safe, the Bulldogs then sacked him. As for the Payne he's contracted till 2024. The Broncos have stated they won't release him.

Sounds like a Dolphins PR guy and an ex-MLA from Brisbane have heard rumours up north?

The Sydney Roosters are adamant they won’t be making a play for Brisbane and NSW Origin prop Payne Haas but it’s hard to see how they wouldn’t try and entertain it given what’s unfolded at the Broncos in the past 24 hours.

What is certain is the Roosters had some dialogue with the NSW Origin front row forward about six weeks ago but the word at the time was it was filed in the too hard basket given Haas is still signed with Brisbane until the end of 2024.

The Chooks are also up against it in terms of their salary cap position for 2023 to the point where they’re yet to register Angus Crichton’s contract.

Champion front-rower Jared Waerea-Hargreaves - who’s won three premierships with the Roosters - is also signed until the end of next season and has earned the right to go out on his own terms.

But as we know with the Roosters from the Cooper-Cronk - Mitchell Pearce situation when the club needs to make a big call they will back the football IQ within their ranks to get it right.

It’s not out of the realms of possibility they could see if JWH was prepared to hang up the gloves at the end of this year.

That would give them the latitude to pursue Haas - a road the Tricolours are adamant at this stage they won’t be going down.

shit based on the fact Hooper said it may happen , more than likely it won’t

JWH is an Immortal like club legend and the heart and soul of this team.

No way would we tap him on the shoulder early. Every fan would be filthy if they did. The players, too.

too much for a prop.....he is good and a decent machine but will not be an x factor player ...I would have him but not for a cent over 700 grand..so let it go Easts.

Surely that has now changed especially with Broncos taking advantage of that situation. I can think of reasons why Dolphins and Titans won't sign him. Bennett was still Broncos coach when Haas got dudded. Titans have blown a big chunk of their cap on overpriced forwards.

edit: adding that Roosters would then become the nearest club to family.

The fox reporting on this matter makes no sense.
I heard Hooper, Riccio and Alexander all report their collective surprise and confusion.
They claim to have inside knowledge...........LOL

Anyway, fox start by saying that bronco pty ltd offered him $5.75 million.
That equates to over a mill per season.............we all know he ain't gonna do better than that......not even close.
Yet they reckon this stalemate is all about more money??????
In fact it's not a stalemate any more................he just wants out.

It seems obvious that Haas has reasons that aren't monetary for his stance.
                            Maybe Walters is a factor?

Why would we want this greedy, selfish knob at the club?
This muppet gets paid $800k a year (the kind of coin the average Joe only dreams of earning), and still wants more.
Not worth it, not the type of player I want to see wearing the proud RW&B. Pride in the jersey like Ricko, Maubs, Cords and Rads is what makes this club great.
DSF, Tuku, Baker, Collins and May are our big boppers of the future….here’s hoping Nick will spend our $$$ wisely on shoring up our young blood moving forward - Suaali, Walker, Whyte, Tuku et al

I don't think money is the real reason at all. It's being used as a tool to break his contract.
