Just what I read on another site and that the Chooks could only offer a 1 year deal as money is tight going forward - The others say the poster is usually spot on with their info and posted 4 weeks back that Liu would be signing with the Titans which seemingly has occurred - not sure about Napa's Manager approaching the Roosters posting though

I like how despite the departure of Cronk, Mitchell, Cordner, and Friend, they still pushing the salary cap agenda. Money seemingly the only thing stopping us from signing Tupou, Lui, and SST to long term deals. Nothing at all to do with their age.

I agree Toops still a gun. But are we really letting him go? Or just a case of Toops not willing to accept a BMoz year-to-year type arrangement?

If he can get more money or more security elsewhere then good luck to him. I was just pointing out that the salary cap pressure rumours are ridiculous in the extreme. With all the reported upgrades Keary and Teddy must each be on $2m a season by now

Nail on head. With my criticisms of the team in recent times, Toops has been one of the few who I see has been consistently great. He is the best winger in the comp. He deserves a BIG payday. I just wish it was from us.

It would be a real blow to lose Tupou. Losing him, BMoz and potentially JMoz in one year and replacing them with inexperienced players probably won’t end well. Do we even have any young wingers coming through? Smith and Suaalii both seem to be more of a centre.

Losing Maubs, Cordner, Friendy and Liu all in the last 12 months has been hard enough.

Not sure I could take seeing another potential club legend leave the club in Toops.

Robinson rebuilt the 2016 squad into a back to back premiership winning side within 3 years so I will always have belief in him and the decisions he makes moving forward but this one will still hurt.

These are the realities of the salary cap unfortunately. Got to bring in bigger dispensations for 200+ game players especially when they've done it all at one club.

Toops should not even be offered only a 1 yr contract. It's an insult.
Wonderful idea...let Toops go, so he can score all his tries against ...us!

What he does on the end of the back-line is one thing but his ability to make yards through opposition forwards when bringing it out of trouble is irreplaceable.

Hope its not true and he is staying but like anyone, if you are one of the best at what you do, your entitled to be paid accordingly.
