Robbo also indicated the players were not happy with it being rushed in without player consultation.

I heard the Paul Kent and James Hooper “interview” on Triple M with Clint Newton, Head of Players’ Association. Clearly Kent is now a stooge for PVL and the NRL. I used to like what he had to say but he seems to have gone feral. Hooper just comes across as though he has no idea; same as usual for him. Kent attacked Newton relentlessly, frothing at the mouth, and a jibbering mess for over 20 mins. Newton came across calm and collected, but quite guarded as to the players position re the removal of PVL. The revolution has begun.

Cue the PVL loving ‘king’ with some sweeping gesture about the players being stuck in the past, needing to move on etc etc

Kenty is a fn disgrace in that interview with Clint Newton. Trying to gaslight the players by suggesting they are the ones wanting to control the game. Kenty has turned into a useful idiot for the PVL dictatorship.

And then the cognitive dissonance of supporting the 6-again rule which has put injury rates through the roof, and being a huge Boxing fan.

I was spot on with the politics. Abdo doing exactly the same as Kenty in gaslighting the players. Instead of a PVL dictatorship making decisions without consultation, the propaganda machine will have you believe the players are controlling everything.

the latest episode to highlight the RLPA’s desire to have control over every element in the game.
NRL has seen first-hand how difficult it is to get things done when the union is involved, opting to act first and consult later

Well, the refs already seemed to have calmed down a bit with the sin-bins, which has proven my point. Players won't change their ways because 'their ways' don't involve deliberate high contact 99.9 percent of the time. As I said, it's not just the constant sin-binning....people are unhappy with his rushing through multiple rule changes with no understanding of their effects, and now the players themselves are revolting (it's not just a couple of tin-foiled headed internet nerds, you know!)

A: A crusher tackle occurs when the attacking player places a hand on the back of his neck and waits. The referee will then award a penalty to the attacking team.
                  NRL Rules

Sin Bin The six main reasons for a player to be temporarily suspended for ten minutes are:

                  1. Repeated infringements
                  2. Professional Foul
                  3. Cooling off period for a player
                  4. Dissent
                  5. Striking
                  6. Foul Play*

                  * Foul Play - A player will be sin binned for foul play in circumstances where, in the opinion of the referee, the act of foul play is of a serious nature, but does not warrant sending off. Acts of foul play of a serious nature include:

» High Tackles with direct contact with the head or neck which are deemed forceful
» Dangerous Throws in which the head or neck of the attacking player make forceful contact with the ground
» Shoulder charges which make forceful contact with the head or neck of the attacking player or make forceful movement of the head or neck of the attacking player (whiplash)
» Crusher tackles in which a defending player has a grip/hold of the attacking player with both arms and applies unnecessary pressure or force to the head/neck/spinal column of the player
» Any other act of foul play which the referee deems to be of a serious nature, but does not warrant sending off.

PLAYER MISCONDUCT A player is guilty of misconduct if he:

                  1. ‘Trips, kicks or strikes another player’

                  2. ‘When affecting or attempting to affect a tackle makes contact with the head or neck of an opponent intentionally, recklessly or carelessly’

                  3. ‘Uses any dangerous throw when effecting a tackle’

                  4. Applies any unnecessary pressure or twists including grapples, crushers or performs a chicken wing on a player in possession

                  5. Unnecessarily contacts a player not in possession or a kicker (see Tackle and Play the ball)

                  6. When a defender forcefully spears at the legs of a player in possession exposing him to unnecessary risk of injury

                  7. Shoulder Charge (see Tackle and Play the ball)

                  8. ‘Disputes a decision of the Referee or Touch Judge’.

In these circumstances: ‘A penalty kick shall be awarded against any player who is guilty of misconduct (Section 15) provided that this is not to the disadvantage of the non-offending team.’ Section 13 (1) (a)

Additionally a Referee or Review Officials may: ‘In the event of misconduct by a player at his discretion, caution, temporarily suspend for 10 minutes (Sin Bin), or dismiss the player’ Section 16 (6)

If an incident is significant enough a Referee will also place the player(s) or incident on report.

The players Union should then via the grievance policy raise it with the NRL - I am not sure it is wise for individual players to sound out others to challenge the NRL and especially the Chair when they should be doing this via their Union. Have the Chooks sanctioned what Keary is doing?

If players feel strongly about this and get no satisfaction or resolution from the NRL from any meetings they have then they have an option of withdrawing their labor and taking industrial action - i.e going on strike.

I think it is good the players are voicing their opinions.
Why hide their thoughts when they are the centre piece of the NRL?
It will keep PVL on his toes.
It sounds like the players are just pissed off that rules are being implemented mid-season without consulting them.
The 6again last year then added ruck infringements this year and then the high tackles and BS and inconsistent sin bins.
                      I can understand their gripe.

I doubt they will strike but they can stop having media presence like interviews and other ways to sanction the NRL.
It will just add to the bad publicity that the NRL has been copping since this BS has started.

PVL & the NRL are coming from the right place & the players should be thankful. The people running the game are getting information that the game will be sued if they dont introduce drastic measures to protect the players & the game. Mark Bosnich & I dont know if he has a clue but he claims that there is already action being taken against the NRL on concussion.

Lucky the game is not in my hands because it would get sued because I would let them do what they want but it cant be like that anymore. Society has brought this on not PVL.

Also remember Buddy you will never keep everyone happy so you have 2 choices when following NRL you except how its all done & think that it all evens itself out or you think your team is always getting the rough end of the pineapple & you dont enjoy the game.

That is a presumption that the players are questioning. 6-again has resulted in more injuries. The value of larger forwards dropped overnight. You reckon those players should be thankful? Ricky Stuart was right in saying he now has to change his large roster to suit new rules which could take years. Should the Raiders players be thankful?

Then there is the high tackle interpretation changes. Players don't want to "tackle lower" for fear of concussion. Radley was adamant you need to pre-meditate tackling lower which is a dangerous thing to do. Watch the replay of the Raiders winger getting concussed tackling Suaalii late in the game. I am sure he thought it was a brilliant idea right up until Suaalii put on some nice footwork and twisted his body to perfect line up his hip with the defender's head.

Let the players have some say in what is best for them. The fact they have not been given a say suggests there are other agendas at play.

I got a text over a week ago, might be the same one, claiming action may have already started against the Nrl, and claiming it could force the Nrl into liquidation if true.

tried to send it as a PM to you, but won’t allow me to send a photo of the text.

                            • NO player should get a penalty for a crusher tackle if they back into the tackle.. If they do then they are responsible for putting themselves in that position

                                Two things

                                (1) I’d be more interested to hear Bozza’s thoughts on the possible future outlawing of ‘headers’ in Futbol rather than Rugby League

                                (2) Aren’t both ends of the pineapple rough?

                                ..it’ll be interesting to see
