I have full confidence in Walker but it’s going to take time for him to find his feet.
If he does play he just has to play a role though and not think he has to be someone else or play like someone else.

Yes the attacking side is important but one usually finds it's the defensive side that young players really struggle with at NRL level and also the speed of the game.

Teams identify weaknesses in players pretty quickly and exploit and target these.

They need a new style now plus some alternative plans- the sideways /cross field attack may have worked against teams with poor defence but it wont work against better teams and well prepared teams and especially when you don't go forward to earn that right as they say.

Chooks were going from A to C and skipped over B - Trying to play suit and tie footy when Overall Footy was required
They need to adapt the game plan to suit the skills of Hutch and Walker. We can’t expect Walker to come in and do what Keary does.

Yep, if he's our no.6 for the rest of the year it's going to be painful. May as well throw the young guns in there and build for the future.

Manu could play 5/8 for the rest of the year. Even blood Volkmann at some point.

            • 6. Walker
              7. Verrils

Thats what I would try when fit. JT gave Sam at least one game in the halves for the Bears when Deitzy was hooker. Has the passing game and quick enough feet. Only query is the kicking game.

Alternatively Manu to 6, Walker 7 and bring in either Joe, Satini or Ikuvalu to the three-quarters.

                • Could someone please let me know how many minutes Joey has played in the halves? If I’m correct I’m thinking 5 minutes. Everyone is saying put him in with an 18 year old debutant player who is going to have to lead the team around the park. Yep, as if that’s not putting a mountain of pressure on Walker. I know most on here don’t rate Hutch but don’t you think it would be an easier task for Walker to have an experienced half with him to help with the kicks and plays than have a centre who admittedly did a good job for the last 5 minutes of Friday’s game? I know Hutch isn’t brilliant but he’s solid, played a lot in the halves and also has partnered Walker in the halves this year at the Bears. Anyway not up to us to make the decision. I just think for Walker to succeed he needs another EXPERIENCED halves partner. I would hate to see his confidence impacted if Joey couldn’t do the job and the criticism comes back on Walker.

Trent trusts Hutch. Anyone thinking he won’t be one of the half’s is wrong. At least until Keighran returns (maybe)

I would agree id we had an experienced halves option, like say, Blake Green. But Hutch? Oh dear, might as well just go with Manu.

It's borderline touch footy these days so might as well have two Ferraris running the ball in Manu and Suaalii.

And again, Hutch gives his all for our jersey so deserves respect. And he's doing a decent job as an interchange hooker and backrower if need be. But I wouldn't be using him as a semi long term halves option.

No way. You could argue that'd put even more pressure on Walker as defences can load up more on him knowing Hutch offers no threat.

That's what happened to Keary when he had Slug Flanno partnering him.

might have to rotate the young blokes in coming weeks .Volkman, Josh Paul Walker Suali .

                        • I think we’ll still put cricket scores on the shit teams and struggle against the top sides.

The biggest worry with so many long term injuries is it’s only round 3. The rest of the squad isn’t going to get through unscathed and if the current injury toll across the game stays it’s going to get even worse.

As unlikely as it is a 1 year deal to James Maloney would be absolutely perfect. I’m not sure how much cap we’d have left but we only have to pay him for 7 months. Get Uncle Nick to do everything he can to entice him away from France.

Would be tough, Maloney has said it’s one of the best gigs ever, and loves it there.

On the flip side at least we will get most of our insured players back during the season because of how early it is

We are effectively what..... 25 /26 on our 30 man squad?

                                We have to look at
                                Bmoz
                                Jmoz

                                Cords

at the end of this season / now for recruitment.
