It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets a smaller contract next time he is off contract as I don’t think he’s turned out to be a 700-800k backrower (not yet anyway) however I’d be very surprised if we’re asking him to take a pay cut next year... why would he? He’s got a contract and it’s not like he hasn’t lived up to his end of that contract.

      Very odd piece from Rothfield.

I reckon Liu has very good hands.

Hope Crichton stays - he is a local junior (along with Radley and Lam).

Edge forward Angus Crichton will have to take a significant pay cut to remain with the Sydney Roosters beyond next year. The club’s number one priority is upgrading Sitili Tupouniua, who has been in sensational form.
Source: somebody watched us play against Brisbane and then listened to Robbo's interview + Braith's comments. Shhhhhh... Sitili's playing good at the moment and will probably start ahead of Crichton while he's returning from an MCL injury.

Keep that hush though ay! With the recent COVID outbreak at the Tattersalls, I don't want people knowing that me and Nick were there. Promise you'll keep it a secret, bro?

haha, they love putting their own spin on things too. obviously keeping sitili and giving him an upgrade is a priority but so is keeping teddy. and you might read the article and think that we're preferring sitili to angus whereas i presume we want to keep both.

Can't see the club allowing him to leave.

Aubo retiring might allow the club to keep him.

I'd definitely upgrade Sitili, coming along amazingly. Really hope we keep Angus though, he's also come along very well.

Mate, when I post the article (only I can see it in full or other subscribers) but it won't allow you to see it (unless you're a subscriber to the wesbite)... sorry

If we are talking about 2022 then by then we could lose Maubs, Bmoz, Jmoz, SBW, Hall and possibly Flanno and Friend.
I think most of the ones that needed an upgrade have got one except for Teddy, Sitili, Walker (?).
Surely that gives us a bit of change for Crichton. But I agree it will probably be for a little less than what he is on.

I also wonder what shape Cords will be in by then??? He isn't old but he beats himself up big time!!!!

Don't agree he isn't worth 700-800k. When he's on the field he is consistently one of our best and considering he'll be 26 when he comes off contract I'd say there are plenty of clubs around who would give him that kind of money. As has been alluded to our second row stocks aren't amazing, he's certainly one I'd like to keep. That being said, Robbo and Nick certainly aren't telling Buzz Rothfield of their re-signing preferences so you probably can't give the article much credit

You listed ‘back rowers’. Isaac is a lock so therefore a backrower.

Whilst Angus is a rep player, I’d be surprised if he is on that much $$. Boyd Cordner should be on that much, being Aus and NSW captain.

                              ..it’ll be interesting to see

Gus is worth every cent of an $800K contract. We will hold onto him.
He got us into the GF last year.
Compare his value to a prominent player who runs around with the chip stealers.
What's he on $1.2 mil?, $1.3 Mill? - and looked very ordinary on the weekend against the Storm.
