  • Angus Crichton

It looks like Angus Crichton will have to take a significant pay cut to remain with the club beyond next year or possibly look elsewhere.

Should the Chooks try to retain him or not stand in his way to look at other options ?

    Thoughts ?

Can you not post the article instead of a subscriber only link?

Does anyone have access to the article? States on the preview with the "premier’s preferring to lock-up another rising star"... is this sam walker or someone else???

can't access the article. depends on what they're saying he's on. if he's on 800k a year then probably inevitable that we can't offer him that again.
hopefully we tell him that we want him and he signs with us for a little less than he can get elsewhere.

Hopefully the allure of a four-peat will get him to resign

            Back Row stocks:

            Cordner (knees, ongoing concussion issues)
            Aubusson (retired)
            Sitili (hands for feet)
SBW (only here for a few games)
            Butcher
            Radley

We'll definitely want to hold on to Gus Crichton for sure unless he is asking stupid money

People forget he is only a youngster, but has heaps of growth in his game to come and great leadership qualities.

5peat. The article says beyond next year.

It doesn't actually say much but when it is under one of Buzz's SHOOSH sections you know it must be true.

Edge forward Angus Crichton will have to take a significant pay cut to remain with the Sydney Roosters beyond next year. The club’s number one priority is upgrading Sitili Tupouniua, who has been in sensational form.

Why does everyone seem to forget Issac.

because isaac is not a SR. He is a prop/ lock forward. He lacks the hands or speed to be a good second rower.

Neither are Butcher or Radley. Also, I disagree that Isaac is lacking in either speed or good hands - but he is a lock/prop.

isaac has the right qualities to be an effective middle forward IMO - which he has been doing the last 7 odd years for us and NZ. To see him play on an edge i just cant see him having the quick hands or the quick feet to set up a 2 on 1 or even for his center/ winger in general IMO. Also, i agree about radley or butcher not being SRs.. butcher has been trialed there and hasn't really impressed.

As mentioned, Liu is in the middle as an 8, 10 or 13.

I definitely don't think his strengths suit the second row so much.

I don't think theres any doubt we want Crichton to stay beyond next year. He is currently on 850k. Clubs like the Bulldogs, Dragons, Tigers, Cowboys, Sea Eagles....they will pay overs to get a player like him.

Its ironic that SBW & Gus are at the club this year- because between them the Roosters have not purchased a top tier high priced forward (SBW 2013- Gus 2019). All the forwards have been developed in-house.

I guess a lot of it will depend what is coming through in the lower grades. Anyone know of any prospects? I keep hearing that Egan Butcher is very promising?
