I'd go with Jake obviously...............................but the question is if it's too big a risk coming back in a game of this importance after playing less than half a dozen games all season.Originally posted by Thirteen View Post
So Eddie if both Sam and Friend are match fit who are you going with?
If Verrills hadn't done such a good job it would be an easy risk to take.
Remember what happened in Jakes last comeback game ?

We probably won’t find out until one hour before kickoff. No doubt Robbo will want to keep them guessing as long as possible just like Cronk in the gf.
However, 100% it’ll be Friend IMO if the injury is sufficiently healed. Come on, it’s the captain with 250 games vs the kid with about a dozen games. Any sane coach would go with the experience every time in that situation.

It would be better for Robbo if there were only 3 reserves instead of 4 - he would have to go with Collins as JWH replacement and Friend for Verrills as I doubt that Verrills would get much game time if on the bench - maybe the return of the winger reserve too - Billy SmithOriginally posted by Rooster_6 View PostFriend starting, Verrills off the bench.
Best of both worlds. Get Jake's defence at the start and back end of the games and Verrills creativity out of dummy half either side of half time.
I think Tetevano is probably the one who loses his bench spot (unless JWH is suspended) as Butcher was very good tonight and seems to have jumped ahead in the pecking order.

Chooks will have to play 80 minutes and more than likely their best game of the year - Storm will take them on the forwards for sure and the Chooks will not only need to make decent ground with the ball to get to the kick but to also limit ground the Storm make including their off-loads - bit of a question mark about the fitness of Toops/SST/Cords as well to get through the required minutes needed and what will be Robbo's bench - wont be much in it - Chooks by 2Originally posted by Thirteen View Post

It's a good problem to have I'll be happy with whatever robbo chooses to go with. There is no wrong decision both friend and verrils will get the job done. I just think it has to be 1 or the other , carrying a specialist hooker on the bench seems like a waist to me. We will need all the forward fire power we can get against the storm

IMO playing friend would be a very risky move and it's highly unlikely he's got the fitness or momentum that Verrills has. Further, if he's injured 1/2 way through the game, we can pretty much kiss our grand finals hopes goodbye because it'll crunch our bench rotations outta whack and force players out of position (read... Radley to hooker).

2. I won't write anything about what happened in 2014 but too much testosterone causes boils.
Unrelated to anything, a lot of Rabbitohs players were treated for boils in 2014.

Thing is, is that Jake was probably best on ground before he came off in that game.Originally posted by eddie View Post

If he’s 100% fit I’d start him, drop Verrills and use Aubbo to spell Jake who simply couldn’t play at the required intensity for 80. I’d keep Radley at Lock as per usual and keep the listed bench.Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

What finals pressure has he had to handle? He's played one finals game where we were under no pressure whatsoever. Pressure will be this weekend when we're leading by 2 and having to defend back to back sets late in the game, or where we're being hammered in defence with their line speed choking us to death and he has to come up with the right option. Yeah he got finals experience against Souths but don't fool yourself into believing that he was under any pressure at all.Originally posted by Henry P is a cheat View PostI think young Sam Verrills has handled finals pressure really well and he will play this weekend and even next weekend if we make it. He's been a revelation in the 2nd half of the season. My main worry is the match officials influencing the game with their whistles.
