I am shattered by this.

I was so excited about this season.

We are not the Roosters of 1996-2004 and therefore not a one man team.

There were more toxic components in this swill of a club than just one monstrously talented but reckless and near uncontrollable bogan.

Here's three things Todd Carney didn't do.

1. Carney didn't go to the press and whinge about his contract when he saw a more talent 5/8th make him look like the myth people know he is.

2. Carney didn't take a shit on a hotel room stairwell.

3. Carney didn't hit his girlfriend (as he doesn't have one.)

Those things he didn't do.

He did, however, lead us to a grand final which the first time in 6 years we even got close.

He also won the Dally M. Something not even Brad Fittler achieved.

Agreed, add to that our coach changes the structure of the team for some stupid reason, plus we have used more players this season then any other team.

I am not talking about the most recent set up with his new BFF.

I mean the pre-season shambles that almost had him sacked before the season even started.

He spilt the team.

He split the club.

People stuck their necks out for him.

And now they are wringed.

The club bent over backwards to help him.

And he pissed all over it.

anyone who thinks all our problems this year were because of Carney is a deluded fool.

Is it Carney's fault as supposed Origin level halfback couldn't earn us a repeat set if his life depended on it?

Is it Carney's fault that half our forward pack has spent most of the season on the sidelines?

Is it Carney's fault that SKD suffered a massive comedown in form after a killer 2010?

Is it Carney's fault Smith has no idea how to pick a team and continually attempted to force backrowers into the backline?

Is it Carney's fault that the rest of the spine- who we were all fooled into thinking were a killer combo last year- turned out to be a completely lost bunch of idiots with no attacking ability for the first 18 rounds?


Our team sucked this year, but they sucked even worse in 2009 pre-Carney. He took us to a grand final on his own, and did it all despite the fact most of the vocal farkwit fans of this club didn't want him or welcome him in his time here.

He has had as many off-field incidents in his time here as Pearce, and less than Friend.

he'll be sacked, but that does not mean he did not contribute to this during his short time here. I wish him the best in future endeavours and I'm sure if he goes to a media darling team like the Knights or Broncs, or a club with media protection like the Sharks or Storm, he'd be the best player in the world and the incumbent NSW and Australian 5/8.
