You will read the comments any way you like but I don’t believe we needed to pursue an old bloke who hadn’t played at NRL level without Smiff, Thurston or Slater.
You suggesting hes set set the world on fire and has justified the very high retirement package we have thrown at him?
I think its it’s clear that the team gelled better with Pearce in it than with a Cronk. There’s no denying Cronk is/was a brilliant player. I have the utmost respect for a guy that has achieved all he has but that doesn’t mean he is the best fit for us.
As for Pearce being a liability off the field, that’s open to interpretation in an overly PC world. His girl in the dress episode was an overreaction imo and as for the dog rooting, he was passed at a private party and did far less than what a lot of others do in those situations. If he wasn’t an NRL player and there wasn’t an idiot there trying to capitalize for his own selfishness, would it have even been made mention of? Also, do you honestly belive it warranted 9 weeks out of the game? It was nothing more than a witch hunt. Pearce’s only crime in the whole saga was being stupid enough to associate with people he didn’t know well enough to trust. And before some craps on that he led other players astray, no one forced them to do anything.
Yes, he has crapped on the club and fans after joining the Knaughts but can anyone really blame him? He was obviously hurt and bitter and it doesn’t make it right but shows he has emotions and what it meant to him.
Hes is a Knight now anyway and everything else is history so stuff him but I am looking forward to seeing him play when he gets back in the field. I’m sure the knights have picked up a lot of other RWB viewers since he left.

Ive seen players play alot worse the Robinson and given alot more opportunities. However your view on his standard of play it raises a serious issue of scouting. Who made the choice to sign him ? Not even considered a capable back up after so few games A poor resourced club we are becoming

From what I know, the key reason that pearce was indirectly or politely shown the door (and that is effectively how it transpired) is because of the party influence that he had over younger players in the squad which was still happening despite his "rehab". The club simply had enough of the non-professional influence that it was having over young players year after year. The opportunity to sign cronk was too good to pass up - an outstanding class player on and off the field with the added benefit of him being ice cool in the clutch moments (which was one of pearces failings). I believe (but don't know for sure) that the cronk deal was in the making from the middle of the year and before our catastrophic performance in the prelim final against the cowboys where our forwards showed little aggression and pearce failed to take control of the game to steer us home despite us leading late in the game.
I used to be one of pearce's biggest supporters until last year when he yet again failed on the big stage in origin. Give me cronk over him any day of the year thanks.

IMO we are seeing it in Radley. Had Nikorima been taken out by Cronk rather than Pearce, maybe he woulda been an NRL player rather than a random kid who has been sacked for doing coke.
