He was also good at Parra looking dangerous many times with ball in hand.
I never watched him in Union but with us he has been total mud, such a shame as my expectations were based on his Canberra and Parra days..
Funny how players can decline so quickly

Firstly going to training sessions has everything to do with it. You see the people who make the decisions at the club, ie; the coaching staff, attend every training session, watch every NRL and NSW Cup match and based on this information, make their selections. Obviously the coaching staff are aware that Reece is out of his depth from what they see first hand, day in day out, not just on the basis of the games he played for the NRL team
Unlike Reece Robinson who has spent the bulk of the past couple seasons playing club rugby. Cooper Cronk was playing for the Melbourne Storm, in fact the NRL Premiership winning Melbourne Storm in 2017, he was playing for the World Cup Winning Kangaroos, he was playing in the State of Origin Winning Queensland team. So he was clearly playing at what you could consider a high level at a high standard, so therefore the fact that he is older than the Club rugby playing Reece Robinson is not really a good comparison. Cronk also plays in a position where you can afford to lose some of your speed and still be effective, it is much harder for a guy on the Wing where pace is more important.
The club signed Cronk for the sole reason as they saw him as being able to handle the pressure in big games, something Mitchell Pearce had shown little evidence across a decade of being able to do so. Even if Cronk isn't the answer, they knew Pearce wasn't. It was summed up when Pearce joined Newcastle, already had a few minor alcohol related incidents, spoken about by other players as being 'one of the boys'.
Cronk is our Captain, not officially but he is the one doing all the talking on the field, barking instructions behind the goal line after tries are scored, he is the teams true leader. Not just on the field but off it. Nick and Trent both made the decision to release Pearce as they knew he could never be a leader, a professional role model, this is largely why they signed Cronk and you can be sure the club will move him into the coaching staff afterwards.
If the guys guys who go to training sessions are the ones making the decisions because they are in the know, surely their expert insight would have told them that Cronk would not as effective without his Storm bubble around him. Many here picked it and it had proven true. His age is irrelevant but it’s clear that at least 3 of the QLD big 4 are running on old legs. His nouce is a huge advantage for us but don’t you get the feeling that what he wants to see happen and how he wants to play is either being stifled by the coach or hard to follow on the field by the rest of the side?FVCK CANCER

Again, me going has got nothing to do with it. What I do, what I see won’t change a thing and that’s probably a good thing anyway.

One is reserve grade standard and the other unproven and hasn't really set the world on fire in the lower grades. Whether Cronk or the team as a whole are being used in the right way, I will reserve my judgment. What the club knew is that Pearce was not the right player to lead the team as he wasn't up to handling pressure on the field and was a liability off it.
You suggesting hes set set the world on fire and has justified the very high retirement package we have thrown at him?
I think its it’s clear that the team gelled better with Pearce in it than with a Cronk. There’s no denying Cronk is/was a brilliant player. I have the utmost respect for a guy that has achieved all he has but that doesn’t mean he is the best fit for us.
As for Pearce being a liability off the field, that’s open to interpretation in an overly PC world. His girl in the dress episode was an overreaction imo and as for the dog rooting, he was passed at a private party and did far less than what a lot of others do in those situations. If he wasn’t an NRL player and there wasn’t an idiot there trying to capitalize for his own selfishness, would it have even been made mention of? Also, do you honestly belive it warranted 9 weeks out of the game? It was nothing more than a witch hunt. Pearce’s only crime in the whole saga was being stupid enough to associate with people he didn’t know well enough to trust. And before some craps on that he led other players astray, no one forced them to do anything.
Yes, he has crapped on the club and fans after joining the Knaughts but can anyone really blame him? He was obviously hurt and bitter and it doesn’t make it right but shows he has emotions and what it meant to him.
Hes is a Knight now anyway and everything else is history so stuff him but I am looking forward to seeing him play when he gets back in the field. I’m sure the knights have picked up a lot of other RWB viewers since he left.FVCK CANCER
