What on Earth are you talking about? Pearce won 1 gf (the ONLY thing that counts) in how many seasons?

Who gives a shit how well he plays in Round 3 or whatever.

That's a great point..there is no deception with Cronk. Everyone knows his going short to Cordner, a keary loop around or doing an inside ball to Tedesco. The 3 or 4 inside balls he has thrown to Tedesco have been Z grade. Where is the deception?

ANZAC Day Games Soward won one for the Roosters in 2007 and 5 for the Merge, total 6 and lost 2. Pearce has won 3 and lost 7 all up.

FInals other than GFs Pearce has won more and probably lost more but head to head Soward got it over Pearce in the QF Final for the Riff against the Roosters kicking the field goal which won them the game...

I am no Soward lover or Pearce hater but putting results in big games against each other in perspective.....
the perspective is that as a club, we were more successful with Pearce than the Merge ever were with Soward. Pearce has also repped a LOT more than Sowie ever did so than in itself speaks volumes.

Pearce has a bullet left to right pass and he had sbw, aubo with fresher legs and Guerra with (a right foot step and hit and spin) on his right edge . Cronk has got matto outside him who has no penetraction and no footwork. Edge 2nd rowers need to run straight lines with a step or use their ball handling skills e.g wade graham . Pearce before he was injured was playing on the left edge at the knights with fitzgibbon outside him and ponga wrapping around the outside of him. Not taking anything away from junior he was playing good footy but you have to look at the players around you before assessing how they are fairing.

Soward is one of the biggest cats I ever saw play. Unlike MP, Soward NEVER took the ball to the line. He was scared of contact. He rarely got tackled in a game.

He was very good in open play coz of his speed. And his kicking game in the wet could kill teams. But when it comes to 'heart', or toughness, he had nothing on Pearce

Say what you want about Pearce but anyone talking up Soward is taking the piss big time. St George won the comp in the year that Melbourne were kicked out in arguably the weakest competition for a generation PLUS they had to rort the cap to get Gasnier in the team and do it off the back of some ridiculous refereeing in the game and classic Brian Smith brain fade pulling Lopini Paea from nowhere a few weeks after Mose Masoe had single handedly given it to their pack and either side of that the Soward lead Dragqueens got bounced out the back door in straight sets. In 2009 the Dragons came first and got knocked out by 8th and 6th then in 2011 they won something like 10 of their first 11 games, finished 5th and got knocked out in straight sets again. Yeah, Soward really took them to great heights lol

Soward was a massive cat who never put in the hard yards in a game only good for a field goal from 45 out with 11 blockers getting in the way. They had everything going for them and for two of those years that Herman Munster was coach they went 0-4 in the finals. Soward's field goal in 2014 would have been a non event had the referee correctly awarded Remy Casty a try that puts the game beyond doubt

Maybe.. be he had mega "footy smarts" which is what frustrates me with our guys, including exes like Pearcey. Dumdums..

                Those smarts win games.

                  Wooden Spoon Count.

Pearce 1 > Soward 0. Another area Pearce leads Soward.
