Im curious how you can disagree with the stats? They are factual so i am curious what your rebuttal would be based on?
On the surface I just feel unclean comparing perhaps the most naturally gifted all round footy player to lace up a boot with Mitchell Pearce.

But delving deeper your stats are selective and misleading.

To suggest that it's better to be 1 from 2 in GFs than 1 from 3 is warped. Wouldn't making more GFs be the greater achievement?

Are we to hold it against Freddy that he put in perhaps the best Prelim performance of the NRL era vs the Knights in 2000 because he then lost to a great Broncos team a week later?

I wonder how Pearce would have gone in the 2nd half of that game when the chips were down... we would have lost; but hey that's good as it means one less GF loss?

And what about the selective use of stats? You didn't mention that we never missed the top 6 in 9 seasons with Freddy and were mugs before and after. Where as we've had some diabolical seasons during Pearce's time.

Comparing Pearce and Freddy using stats is the ultimate example of how deceptive stats are. I mean Shane Perry and Chad Townsend have as many GF wins at halfback as Thurston. Are they his equal?

      Hi Tommy,

if you read my previous posts, you will see that you said I was not trying to take anything away from Freddy. Just that based on numbers, their achievements at club level are similar. I'm sure you agree that apart from the minor premiers, the premiers, to an extent the runner up and of course the spooner, no one cares or really even remembers anything about the rest. Yes, we had a near decade of excellence under Freddy and it was a great ride but I'm sure most people would only recall the 2000, 02, 03, and 04 GFs. My apologies for the incorrect info as well. Freddy's record wasn't one from three but just one from four. Again, the numbers don't lie. Pearce is at 50% success rate in GFs with us, Freddy's record ended at only 25% with us.

Freddy was a far better all rounded footy player there's no doubt. I could never argue for Pearce over him in that regard but theres no denying his results statistically.

Also in 43 years at the chooks, uncle nick has only delivered 2 premierships, where clubs like dogs, parra, raiders, broncos, storm,Penrith,Newcastle ,dragons,
have won at least the same, and more.

I agree with you when you say Freddy is rubbish, statistically so is politis. Can you imagine how much better off the roosters would have been without them?

No disrespect to the great man either.
Freddy won us a premiership in 2002. Mitchell Pearce played in a premiership winning team in 2013, much the same as Shane Perry played in a premiership winning team with the Broncos in 2006.

Just proves that money, power and talent doesn't always guarantee you a premiership. Because if it did, the Chooks would have won far more than they have.

Premierships are not won by the most talented or highest paid squad, they are won by the squad that is united, and each player needs to have the commitment to the cause and put the team's success before their own. And it's yet to be seen if the Chooks have that in 2018. The new blokes will have to fit the mould of the rest of the squad sooner rather than later.

No arguments but the figure speak for themselves.

No one has said Freddy was rubbish and the Roosters would not have been better without them. I’m just not sure how flicking a guy with the same if not better stats is a move in the right direction? Time will tell and I’m sure when next season starts we will be back on the wagon and everyone will be singing Cronks praises! No excuses next season now.

Does this mean that Shane Elford who won a premiership in 2005 was a better Centre than Andrew Ettingshausen who didn't win any? Scott Sattler was a better Lock than Wayne Pearce?
                  ...

I am in disbelief!!! Tracksuit is actually saying Pearce has abetter record than Fittler!!!!!! By having a one loss one win GF record . Yet Freddy got us to 4 GFs, winning one , doesnt that show Freddy was far superior to get us past the prelim, unlike Pearce who had 4 attempts for 1 win? I , like Tommy, feel dirty even posting this.

Finchy & Braith were heaps better than Freddy & Pearcey.

And Frank Paul Nuuasala is a better backrower than Nathan Hindmarsh

Three things won us that 2002 Grand Final. 1. Richard Villasante pissing off Moz after the Fittler headbutt, Freddy's 40-20 and the pass he gave to Wing. With a special mention to Luke Phillips who had to be half zonked because of a busted shoulder.

2013 was won by SBW, Jennings being a freak and Pearce staying out of the way.

No mention of Moa? Maloney? but yeah two plays by SBW in the second half wins us the game its what great players do ...you are correct.I was actually dissapointed in Friend ,Pearce, JWH and Sheck in the GF ..they did their job but were not big game players and as much as I am a huge shek fan he proved last weeks world cup Semi he is exactly that.
Hence why we signed Pensioner Cronk .

Maloney was the MVP in 2013. Had a big hand in 3 of our 4 tries, kicked 5/5 including 2 from the sideline, and put a great tackle on Foran which caused him to lose the ball in attack at a crucial moment.

But yes, SBW stepped up when it mattered too like the great players do.

The decision to give DCE the CCM is to this day the worst call ever. It stunk of bias and hate from those mugs Bozo and MacCarthy. Pair of sad old ****s.

Actually its the worst call since 2002 when Freddy was robbed as someone pointed out. He set up 4 of our 5 tries and kicked the match turning 40/20 in one of the better individual performances I've seen in a GF. Someone must have really held a grudge on Freddy at the time.

Maloney played a big part in it. Should have had Clive Churchill for it. Moa too. SBW was quiet until the 60th minute when he pressed go.
