So we sign one Cornish brother and let the other one go. Neither will play much NRL but I guess the only good thing to come out of it is I think Mitch is the better player of the two.

I was wondering who Tylor was when I read the heading - thought perhaps you meant the Charlie Taylor who's been spoken of recently!! Or even that they'd lost their marbles and taken Dave Taylor back, even though he's trialling with the Raiders.

Second tier player who will make his way around plenty of clubs by the time his NSW/Qld Cup career is over. And let's face it, that's what it will be, as he is not NRL level on a weekly basis. He might cadge the occasional NRL game if his club hits injury crisis, but it will have to be one hell of a crisis ...

the reason i posted this thread was to mention, why lose tyler cornish from our system to replace him with his brother, at what i can assume at a higher annual rate. considering. he is also a fringe quality half who kicks goals. finished the nsw cup with the highest points.

I don't know... and in context (as a Canberran), Mitch Cornish was the next best thing at one stage. I was weirded out when Sam Williams kept getting the nod ahead of him because every time he went on the Raiders started doing good (Williams was rubbish... so they punted him to St Merge then bought him back?) Baaaah I dunno.

Anyhow, TYLER Cornish was seen as being better than his (then first grade) brother so when we signed him it was MASSIVE.

IMO Mitch Cornish is more a 1st grade half who hasn't gotten a go rather than a rubbish half who belongs in the NSW Cup at best. Tyler? I'm sorta suprised we let him go before he got a chance to prove himself... Connor Watson is probably the reason.

But... we now have a lot of promising young halves who will probably play first grade. This is why I found Mitch a weird signing (his brother supposedly has more potential and we already had him).

Maybe Tyler will get a 1st grade utility role with the Titans? Not a place I'd go for development TBH.

I don't know where exactly you plucked that from. Mitch was always the better of the two brothers and made age rep teams on a regular basis. Tyler as I mentioned previously wasn't considered good enough by the Raiders and wasn't even offered a deal hence he joined the Roosters.

Mitch played like 1 junior rep game when Maranta was out, which forced a bunch of lucky changes (that resulted in Mitch getting a game). I wouldn't read too much into this selection, neither were junior rep superstars (both were really just heavily hyped U16 players that the local feeders hoped would come good).

My source (for a largely unreported kid who thus far hasn't made it in the NRL) is mostly conversations with Raiders fans during the 2011-2013 reasons when the Cornish brothers were highly rated teenagers. Having seen Mitch develop, there was a general belief that Tyler was showing better signs as a youngster.

The rumour doing the rounds was that Mitch was a shoe-in for a starting half role. Obviously things turned out differently and it was all hype. However, this is what Canberra fans were saying as they watched the two develop. I just find it funny that they both ended up at Bondi....

Dave was spitting chips when he lost the two of them because both were part of his long-term plan (they were both very similar... Milf had more natural talent but Tyler trained harder).
4. Dave is currently head of recruitment up in the Goldcoast, where he is very excited to have poached one of his favourite youngsters from us - Tyler Cornish. Get why Tyler's going to the Goldcoast yet?

I distinctly remember circa 2012 that Mitch Cornish and Milford were anointed as the future Raiders halves pairing and definitely not Tyler Cornish who was an underdeveloped runt of a player back then. One of the reasons why Williams was punted/released was due to the rise of Milford and Cornish.

Ism you need to do your research. Mitch Cornish, considered one of the best up and coming halves under 20 years of age in the country this article confirms those thoughts at the time whereas Tyler a gun at U18 club level Goulburn Bulldogs looooll was considered for 5/8 and possibly other positions. Look at the pic and you can see Mitch is a lot more developed and more ready for progression to first grade at that time.

I think you owe Headless Chook an apology and get off the gear you are smoking it is making you delusional.

I agree with HC and 4TAIB. It is Mitch who is the better player. This is the reason the Faiders kept him and released Sam Williams to the Merge. He was Stuart's first pick at half, but then he quickly fell out of favour (like most of Ricky's halves!) and he bought Sezer and brought back Williams. There was a lot of talk about how young gun Mitch Cornish was the Raider's future in the halves. They had a good NYC team a few years back and he was one of the main stars. When we signed Tyler I was a little surprised as I didn't think the Raiders valued him as much as his older brother so thought it a strange signing. I too am a local.

Why would I apologise, I'm telling you what Hammo told me when I asked him about Tyler Cornish. This was after he had signed with the Roosters. He was a bit dumbfounded at how much we had thrown at him but told me he really didn't see a long term future for him at the Raiders, he had actually considered him as a fullback because he didn't think he would cut it in the halves.

Tyler was 17 when we signed him (read articles of the time) turning 18 the year the Roosters signed him. (2012)
We also had Nick the younger brother this year, who was a really nice kid.
