I think Norman is making all the right noises of late and if the reported offer by us to Coote is nothing more than a bid to drive up his price then Norman could actually be the player in the Roosters sights. Salary cap hanging over the Eels might mean their hands are tied when it comes to retaining him. Watmouth funds hold the key here...

I would take Norman over Coote as 5/8 every day of the year. Norman is a gun.

I don't think we need another half to be honest. Hastings/Pearce played some games together last year and they looked alright. With Hastings being a first string half now and Pearce returning in a couple weeks we're covered in that position for at least this season and next (Pearce expires next, right?)

What I do think would be good is to get a fullback and move Latrell into the weak centre spot we currently have. He has the strength to do some damage in the centres and we can slowly introduce him to fullback as time goes on.

I think Mitchell has done really well at fullback for us but he does make a couple of bad calls each match and that type of thing could come back to cost us in a situation where we can only drop a limited amount of games to make the 8.

NRL 360 this week mentioned Mitchell Moses also chasing $800k. Will be linked to Roosters in 3...2...1...

I would take Norman over any off contract half. He is the perfect replacement for Jimmy.

A lot of these guys seem to be trading on what they may be worth in the future. Moses would struggle to lead a team around just like Hastings has. $800K? No way man. I don't really think he is even worth half of that.

Halves are being paid way too much these days.

Seriously it seems like they all want upwards of $600k no matter how good they actually are. Hodkinson is reportedly on $750k ffs.

Moses isn't worth $200k and wants $800k, how big is his ego?

I think a few of these halves are Daniel Mortimer type players. They are okay and would fit into most systems but do you want to pay them big dollars and expect them to win you a comp or make you a gun team? No way. Hodkinson is on $750K?? Wow he should consider himself very fortunate. He is nothing more than an average half at best.

Absolutely agree with RR2 and TCB - half these halves on the market have lost their marbles and their managers of got into their heads demanding ridiculous amounts.

There is no way in the world Corey Norman is worth the supposed 800k he is after! I mean, what the hell has he done to deserve that sort of coin?! He's off with the pixies thinking he'll be signed for that sort of figure and if any club is stupid enough to outlay what he wants on him, then they deserve everything they get. Moses and numnuts, what's his name, his halves partner in the Tigers, are in the same boat. They have 600k options in their favour and they're holding out for more. I mean good luck to them if they get it but the Tigers or any other club would be stupid to spend 600, 700+ on them.

Incidentally I read the other day that the Tigers are paying their centre Lawrence $650K this year or next year ( I forget). Plus $1 million for Farrah. Can you imagine being Chris Lawrence and earning that much. He must just shake his head and buy lottery tickets everyday.

Mitchell Moses is a touch football player. He will never go anywhere unless he's playing behind a very dominant forward pack which the tigers don't have. And the more money he chases the less likely the club will be able to get the forwards he needs. You need to play forward before going side to side. Something the tigers just don't seem to understand.

Media propaganda. Farrah's contract is back-ended, and probably the same with Lawrence. Never let the truth ruin a good story.

If that's the case, TCB then Lawrence would deadset be laughing all the way to the bank!

Bigchook - exactly right, mate. They have shit house forwards (perhaps with the exception of Woods) and in the absence of a dominant forward pack, halves like Moses either go missing or are able to come up with one or two simple acts of brilliance in broken play. Again, well short of the sort of performance you'd expect for a half on 600k plus.

I don't think you understand what players are being paid now let alone considernig what they will be paid relative to a cap that is going up to $10M. Norman is most definitely worth upwards of $800K when you consider that. Hell we paid Pearce $700K a season on a $6.3M cap. 11% of the cap, yet you don't think Norman is worth 8% of a cap even though he is a pure footballer, whilst Pearce is a manufactured one. I wouldn't be paying big coin though for Moses but when guys like Hodkinson and Mbye can already command $700K + then you have to realize that is where the market is at these days for the average halves in the competition. If you want to continue to pay peanuts then expect to be only able to sign also rans.
