He's on about 750k though so he'd have to be taking a large whack of cronulla cap. Can't imagine Brisbane would be paying more than 250k for him. Then again I can't really imagine how they can even afford that.

a stop gap one year deal is fine for vh. unless that happens there is no point in risking the future of latrell

Man if we can get Valentine Holmes I would imagine a long-term deal would be on the table. He is a very classy prospect imo.

Well Inglis was always a better centre than fullback. Perhaps Mitchell will be the same.

Why would we sign him again??? We have 3 players in consideration for FB, ( Fergo, Mitchell and Omar) 5 for centre (Fergo, SKD, Copely, Elliot and Manu) and 4 for the wing spot (Toups, SKD, Burgess, Mitchell). We have no backup kicker of substance, we have no ( at present ) backup half or 5/8 that is 1st grade worthy, and we have lost a star 2nd row and frontrower. VH is a very good finisher and a obvious talent, but unless SKD gets arrested and we sack Toupo ???

Robbo and POS have both been very vocal that they see his future as a centre or fullback. Given he has come through the lower grades as a fullback only, there is obviously strong suggestions that they see him as a centre. Add to that the constant links to Tedesco, Hayne and now Holmes.

I thought I read somewhere that Holmes has won the race to the fullback spot, with Bird to start in the centres and Barba to start on the bench. It would be amazing if we manage to get Holmes, but I think this is just another one of those rumours that is exactly only that.

I think if we analyse it if we signed Holmes what kind of domino effect it would have - I dont think it would make sense:

- Holmes would only want to sign on the basis he plays FB (otherwise I am assuming he would remain at the Sharks, unless there is more to this story)
- If Holmes plays FB, Fergo moves back to centres
- If Fergo moves back to centres - who gets shifted out? Tupou (NSW Rep)/SKD (NZ Rep)/Copley/Mitchell? Am sure they didnt sign Copley to play him in reserves, considering that was his situation in Brisbane.
- Which would mean Latrell Mitchell would be the one that gets moved to Wyong/Holden Cup

So this would mean none of this makes sense if we are to sign Valentine Holmes.

There could only be 1 plausible reason we are signing Holmes - and that is to do with SKD and his court case (which is not good news for SKD). And based on what we are hearing it looks like SKD seems ok with his case unless the club know something we dont.

So IMO, I think the Holmes rumour is just that - a rumour and nothing more!

PS. In regards to Latrell, I think Robbo came out after the WCC and mentioned Latrell will be playing round 1, which makes me think he will play centre/wing again like he did for WCC.
