  • Valentine Holmes

Rlw is reporting that the chooks are preparing to make a play for Holmes. Always thought the sharks might loose one of the three fullbacks they have at their disposal. Just glad it is Holmes that might be looking for another club if he is not the sharks No 1 fullback at the start of round 1. His management is set to ask for a release & we are primed to pounce. How good would that be.

The guy is a freak, if we got him I'd be over the moon.

Holmes, Tedesco, RTS and Munster are the next Slater, Mini, Stewart, Hayne and Inglis.

Having someone who is able to kick a field goal would be incredible. It's been a while since we have had that luxury lol

Yes, definitely would be good to have him.

Although I'm not sure how reliable this source is and i can't see how the Sharks would let him go.......unless he is causing significant problems within the club. In which case, we wouldn't want trouble of that magnitude surely?

So is VH a stop gap fill in, or do we release Latrell Mitchell ?
I mean why would Latrell hang around for another 5 years to get a crack at the Fullback position he wants.

Why would they get rid of Holmes? Surely barba would be released first. He's on more money too isn't he?

Gotta agree there. No way could I see them losing Holmes before Barba

So will we now start a rumour that we are chasing Barba ??

Latrell could easily switch to the centres. I haven't heard him come out and say that its fullback or bust. I think he actually played a lot of 6 growing up as well

Whilst Valentine would be a smart acquisition, Hawkeye's point regarding how it would affect Latrell's future is spot on in my opinion. Therefore, this rumour doesn't pass the smoke test.

a stop gap one year deal is fine for vh. unless that happens there is no point in risking the future of latrell

I'd almost be more reluctant to throw him in centre than fb. Centre is probably the hardest position on the field to defend at. He'd be out of position and tackling second rowers all game and expected to read the play well. Holmes is a good player but I can't help but think someone like Michael Gordon for a season would have been a smarter buy.

Who said anything about throwing him in there straight away? Go back and check out GI's career, the player everybody likens Mitchell too. He started off on the wing at Melbourne for a season or so, before moving into the centres. Give it another 12 months or so and Mitchell will be a big as most back rowers running at him anyway and I'm sure like most good footballers, his decision making will improve with time

I think Barba is still being paid by the Broncos.
