Watching NRL 360, Paul Kent reckons it doesn't matter if the booing is not race motivated the crowd should stop. Cause if Goodes perceives its racists that's all that counts, like we're all in some office and its workplace bullying.
Great Paul but he's a professional athlete and the people there are paying to watch sport, you can't tell 25000 of 60000 people how to behave or how they cheer.
Whats going to happen if the booing continues NEWS LTD (who seem to be driving this issue) are going to photograph and shame the booers on the front page of the Tele like they do with Dogs supporters?

Maloney gets booed by opposition fans every time he's about to take a kick. NRL should stop fans doing it otherwise he'll quit the game

Goodsey should switch codes to easts or manly where you'll get booed week in week out to see what booings all about.

I actually heard the full story of that Collingwood fan off of Alan Jones this evening.

She was a 13 year old intellectually disabled girl who babbled the words because of her father. She was pointed out by Goodes and security guards took her to a room within the stadium and police grilled her for two hours without her parents or a legal guardian present. Goodes, the Swans and the AFL have never apologised to the girl or her family for what would have been a terrifying experience for that girl.
                I'm speechless having read this.

I'm stunned that anyone could say this issue isn't about racism.

It is completely breathtaking to me that people suggest it doesn't have racial connotations.

Reading some of the comments on this post....I mean ****, shake my head. I hope those who deny it is racially motivated take some serious time to put some context behind the issue before offering regurgitated rhetoric spouted by the likes of Jason Ackermanis, Shane Warne, Alan Jones, Eddie McGuire, Sam Newman and convicted racist Andrew Bolt.

And Cory Bernardi. And Miranda Devine.

                        It's a veritable who's who of ignorant, shit-stirring cnuts.

This will be my final statement on this matter.

I wrote this for somewhere else but I'll reprint it here.

One of the most talented rugby league players ever to lace up a boot, Andrew Walker, played for my team, the then Eastern Suburbs Roosters. He was aboriginal to the marrow, with the cultural homages and rituals involved. The fans respected the hell out of him and he respected the fans back and other than his own personal daemons, he never got into the same trouble that Adam Goodes' mouth and belligerence has got him into.

What's the difference between the two men?
                          SUPER DRAGON!

So either Andrew Walker was never racially abused, at all or to the same degree as Adam Goodes by spectators.

                            Or...

He did but just turned a blind eye. If that was his choice then good for him. But is that what we expect of Indigenous folk? Get called an ape, black c##t or ni##er and just cop it on the chin? And does speaking up about it make them a primadona?

Because that seems to be the main argument against Adam Goodes. The issue appears to me to be that he doesn't know his place.

And rather than being a good little minority and turning a blind eye to racism or simply smiling and saying "oh it's just a one off, Australia is really such a tolerant country", he decided to make a stand which in turn appears to have made a whole lot of people feel bad when they'd rather go about their lives oblivious to everyday racism - both overt and subtle.

The fact that so many people smuggly roll their eyes when they hear the term "Invasion Day" or sniggered at Kevin Rudd's Sorry Speech, tells me all I need to know about the average person's attitude towards Aboriginal people's plight. As though 200 odd years of rape, murder and pillaging of ones people and culture is actually no big deal.

"Build a bridge and get over it" "Don't be a sook Adam, it's just one comment".

                              EXACTLY!!
I have been unable to get onto this site for 2 weeks now. For some inexplicable reason I just couldn't get on - but that's a whole new thread.
Anyway, the first thread I see when I get back is this!
The majority of people are not booing Goodes because he is indigenous. They are booing him because he dared to speak up about the fact he cops racial vilification either directly or casually,as a part of his everyday life from everyday Australians. He should just turn a blind eye, take it on the chin and accept it. Because afterall, this is the way the minority stay the minority.
