If you are going to spend a wad of money on a player then you don't want to sign somebody older than 23 so you are making sure they have plenty of good years left. Otherwise you end risking buying players who are going to be past it very quickly and therefore not value for money.
Nice sig rcptn - how do you feel about the Iraq War and weapons of mass destruction?

The money they earn is on a yearly basis anyway.
Petero and Hindmarsh are not on 600k a season so that comparison is irrelevant

Lockyer maybe be close to that but is a far better player in a key position

If SKD is on 400k or anything close to that then we cannot afford to pay 600k for another centre we will have no depth at all if we do. You had team lineup earlier and you had Conn as a starting prop. There is no way we will win a comp with Conn as a starting prop.

I saw a report that Saddam trucked all his WMD's into Syria. It was not reported on at all much because obviously they didn't want people to be anxious about them falling into the hands of Hezbollah who I think are based in Syria. Obviously they also didn't want it reported also because they would have been seen as failng in what they set out to do.

          Then play him at lock.

You still paying big money for a player playing in a non key position

How many 600k locks in the NRL?

We are not lacking for impact players in our backrow

We are lacking workers like a Gallen, Hindmarsh, Johnson or Fensom type player

We need at 3 players on the field in our pack at all times that will get stuck in and tackle there hearts out

ATM we only have Friend Kennedy and occasionally Myles who do that

FPN,Symonds,Maubs,Masoe and Anasta are not doing their fair share in defence and are not having the same impact in attack as last year

Does it matter? He's a champion player and a superstar. He's been largely injury free since going to Union. And apart from his walkout he is a cleanskin. His walkout was blown way out of proportion anyway.

              edit for your edit:

I've been calling for a workman like player for ages but that seems to have fallen on deaf ears. We should've chased hard for Tolman and we should've chased hard for Graham. But they aren't exciting players. Guys like Fensom are boring. We need to find one sometime soon. I've said that a lot. Over and over again. We are carrying at least two players we could get rid of who are supposedly impact players (FPN and Anasta). Get rid of those two and that would pay for SBW. That gives us one impact player and leaving us room in the pack to put in another worker.

I wouldn't hesitate to sign him.

Unfortunately I doubt smith would let it happen because he doesn't believe in signing top notch players. Instead he prefers to sign duds hoping to transform them into good players. It's no wonder he's never won a comp. He'll never learn unfortunately.

If we could convince Gus to take over then I'd have no doubt sbw would be a good chance.

I'd sign him in a heartbeat. He's a dead set superstar and like a lot of people have said he wins you games. He's no Willie Mason either. Willie has always been a dick head and never had half as much talent/skill as SBW, it didn't magically happen when he came to the roosters.

Why are we even contemplating this anyway?

He hardly played a game in his first season.

                              This part here is interesting.

Perhaps JT knows more than what he is letting on...

There's another thread about 'no dickhead policy'. This is where SBW belongs. No Thanks!
