  • Ted Helliar resigns

    http://www.nrl.com/roosters-coo-ted-...3/default.aspx

Sydney Roosters Chief Operating Officer Ted Helliar has announced he is moving from his post.

Helliar, who has spent the past three years at the Roosters, will leave the club with "good memories" especially the club's 2013 premiership win over the Sea Eagles.

"Following three years of amazing success both on the field and off it, I have tendered my resignation from the Sydney Roosters," Helliar announced.

"Being part of the Roosters family has been one of the greatest honours in my life with the 2013 Premiership the pinnacle.

"I will always be eternally grateful for those experiences and for the relationships formed over this time.

"For now it’s time to recharge the batteries and enjoy summer with my family."

Don't know why, but I never really liked him. No real reason, he just annoys me.

Nobody resigns from the Roosters by choice.

Shame, he was an Easts man and genuinely cared about the fans and club.

Hopefully comes back one day. Those who have spoken to him will know he wouldn't ever join Souffs.

Is it a worry that is the first time I've ever seen his name?

From memory when Beaker left, they split his job into two positions .

Half the role was taken by Brian Canavan and the other half, mainly the logistics side of the CEO role was taken by Helliar. From what I hear he did a good job. Mainly a office job though apart from a few media appearances.

Maybe he left so that we could finally sign JT

Hopefully that's true. After all "souffs are not a club that everyone hates like the roosters" according to their scumbag ceo Shane Richardson.

I see. That would explain his not being in my eyeline. If Brian Canavan is hardly sighted then the office guy certainly wouldn't.

                      .
Lets just pray that we don't bring back the beaker to fill his role. He is without a club now after up up cronulla gave him the flick.

Does he want to be able to suspend then fire Fergo if things go bad? He's got a horn for exposing dirty laundry.

Doubt it, didn't uncle nick move him on when BC came back?

Poor ted helliar didn't get much to work with this year, especially when he mentioned he had big plans for a day game at home but it still didn't come even after asking the NRL for it.

                              Meh.

While I'm sure his hands were at times tied, the bloke seemed out of his depth to me. I had some dealings with him professionally and that was my impression.

He may have supported the team or whatever, but as far as I know, he was promoted from a Maketing Manager's role into a Head of Commercial, with Marketing reporting in to him. I'm not sure how familiar youse all are with Roosters Marketing, but let me tell you that it certainly ain't comparable to, say, working for Budweiser or NAB, that's for sure.

It's all shoe-string stuff (well at Easts, anyway), which in itself isn't bad - it just requires some deeper strategic thinking. A skill that imo, yer man lacked.

For one thing, he brought Production in-house, which while saving money also attracts lesser talent. He should have partnered with an Agency; spent lots more and created innovative brand strategy and media campaigns. Had fewer people in-house. The overall strategic thinking required was not in his arsenal.

It would have looked worse to the board as costs would have sky-rocketed, but if he was genuinely good he would have put his balls on the line.

It is my opinion he did the opposite. Played it safe. Enjoyed the rock star privelages and then left before it all came to an end against his will.
