A couple of suggestions from a current list of off contract players:

Matt Duffie - Re-injured his ACL this year. If he recovers in the offesason and gets things right, he could be a masssive signing. One of the most athletic wingers in game and due to his current predicament he would be cheap to sign. He would at least make a good back up to our current stocks and Fergo if the NRL allows him to sign.

Tom Learoyd-Lahrs - Unwanted at the raiders. Still at a decent age of 28, we could get a lot out of him if he shapes up and robbo instills a specific role for him. He has size and aggression and could be good back up to our younger forwards. He also would be cheap, a lot less than what he would have demanded a few years ago.

I don't think that we need to make any huge signings just for the hell of it. In 08' we did that and ended up paying for it big time. I think that with the youth we have coming through, any signings other than depth signings will be money not spent well. Our backline, halves and forwards are young and will be settled for a long time, so really there is no need for drawing in big name players.
    Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

Mate you would like to think TLL has a lot to offer still.. Not many origin players are done by 28... Does he bring any thing different to what looks likely that Evans will bring though?

I'd be happy with TLL as well. You'd assume he'd come very cheap seeing as he's currently a regular reserve grader.

Had to laugh at Sticky last week crying that he can't have any Origin players in his squad. He should have mentioned the fact that he needs Origin players who he isn't going to fall out with and promptly relegate to the wilderness.

My Canberra-supporting mate thinks TLL is arse.

TLL has been dogshit for about 3 years.

                We have enough props.

JWH, Moa, Napa, Evans, Casty, Liu, Meehan...

You won't get any better than that in the salary cap era.

TLL as one of those in that party with Matt Johns, wasn't he?

So have the raiders. I've seen this guy's best and he is worth taking a risk on if he comes cheap. Apparently the $torm cheats are interested....

It would be interesting to go over sticky's career and find a list of how many origin/reps stars he has destroyed whilst in charge.

The raiders have seriously fked up in appointing him. A couple more years of Furner as coach and they would have been ok. He had just started fixing things up and removing the dickheads when he was given the flick.

If TLL was at a club he actually wants to be at, he would be a good signing.
If either Moa or JWH goes down, we would be in trouble. The young guys are good but they are inexperienced and need the guidance of the more experienced hardened props.

I suspect you've just hit on the reason Furner got given the boot. Vested interests. Never hire a favorite son of a club as it's coach, because there are people who hate him.

I hope those rumours of James Tamou earlier in the year don't eventuate. He has become the new Pillow.
