Broader issue, why has this dragged on for so long?
Cows fans were pretty p*ssed about Robson leaving and Easts fans are disappointed Marky Mark's on the way out. Why is DCE's timing so special? Surely he packed up his locker long ago, Manly's requested he play no part in training / media sessions and holding back serves no purpose unless there's uncertainty.

Manly hasn't had a pack that could dominate the better teams for quite a while.Originally posted by Inflictor View Post
How have Manly's junior halves gone the last 10 years?
They brought in an old Tigers hack and now an old Raiders halfback to replace him. I can't remember them ever giving a young kid a shot.
This mentoring stuff is BS.
We've had Cronk and now Keary for that.

I can see both sides of the argument, Daly might be the best thing for Sammy and the team. Hugo might decide to take his chances elsewhere depending on whether he falls down the pecking order due to Roswell. Daly might do a Chad and help the halves via reserve grade. It's not like any of the young halves would be shocked at the signing, the media have been reporting it since March.
I'm looking forward to seeing if Daly and Reece Robson can be the difference at the back end of the year. I thought Robson had a good year in an average team. Beniah is young and can learn a lot from the second best hooker in the comp.

They're a young pairing with a handful of games together playing in a developing team so they'll have the occasional shocker. What's important is that we've seen just how good they can be on their day. They are well balanced and complement each others skill set. They need more time together and Savala needs more NRL experience.Originally posted by Vasco View Post
Yes, but in our final game against the Sharks some serious weaknesses were exposed.
I think having DCE around Walker, Rodwell, Savala etc can only be a good thing.
Robbo's either a genius or a fool who's lost his way or hunger for success in the 6 again era. Time will tell I guess as he's putting it all on the line by signing a half back who will be 37 next season.

The seagulls have struggled for stability and have that competitive edge since they unceremoniously dumped Mr Investigation Toovey in 2015/16.Originally posted by Inflictor View Post
I was replying to you claiming his mentoring was brilliant business planning.
I see no evidence of this in his 15 years at Manly.
Im dumbfounded why they signed Brooks but then allowed their promising junior half Humphrey's sign with Souffs.
Let's see what becomes of their new kid on the block - Joe Welsh.
I couldn't GAF about Manly however, their next best move IMO would be to replace Seibold with ex Manly boys, either Matt Ballin or Brad Arthur.

Did you watch the Samoa vs Tonga game? Katoa had an absolute stinker. The media have labelled it a "failed early Origin test"Originally posted by The Real King View PostDon’t understand what the big deal is if Hugo moves on. His final audition came in the semi-final against Cronulla and he failed badly.
Sure he might be better than Toby Sexton and Lachlan Ilias, but he ain't no Isaiya Katoa who is 2 years younger.
DCE is a big improvement.
It's normal for young inexperienced halves to have great games and also terrible ones.

Yes, Thank you, I know how being an inexperienced half works. I watch Sam Walker every week.Originally posted by Bates View Post

In 2 years time when Katoa is Hugo and Sam’s age he wont be stinking anything.
Hugo has a great long kicking game, but he is a 23 year old in his rookie year.
Is he going to another level next year? He will have to because he isn’t hard to work out.

We were using Whyte and Spencer as Lock's at times in the back end of the year. Robbo would have to change the way the team is structured to accommodate Hugo in that position, unless you expect him to be used as a third front rower, in which he would have to put on 20kgs in the off season.Originally posted by Rooster90 View PostHopefully Hugo gets a chance to own the #13 jersey next year...

Savala is heavier than Radley.Originally posted by Rooster_Mark View Post

It will be interesting to see if Radley's recent actions have paved the way for Savala. Radley's contract ends in 2027. I would not be surprised if he left a year earlier to join the Bears.

With Rodwell coming through - I'm sure Hugo has already been told, or at least can read the room that his best chance of playing NRL is to change position.Originally posted by Rooster_Mark View Post

He is decent defensively, solid running game and can ball play so i see no reason why he can't play that Radley/Murray/Yeo lock role.
This year we had Savala, Sandon, Walker, Townsend, Elliot as halves in the top 30 with Foley & Rodwell in the lower grades.
Unfortunately you can't keep them all.
Sandon & Townsend have already gone, Elliot has been given a chance to explore options - Rodwell has been marked for NRL in 2027 and Foley (who i really rate) can play centre, fullback and lock already
