I don't know that this sort of situation is shocking any more, not for the punters, but of course the clubs themselves would prefer drug free performances. As for parents, they are surely totally familiar with the pitfalls and peccadilloes from their own youths. It's not as though they're Boomers. Oz, I'd suggest has a very drug savvy Gen X.

10 matches seems incredibly excessive but if it's true he lied or didn't disclose the entire situation to the club I would think that cost him an extra few games. Tough lesson for Rads but it could've been worse hopefully this sees him come out firing next year to prove himself to the team.

Just saw this. I think this is the best solution. Well done to the club.

the nrl obviously didn’t step in because they don’t have a hard rule on party drugs, and both players are free to continue playing in the nrl.

so the worst that could happen to Victor is he is sacked by us, and plays for another nrl team next year.
It's borderline imo. This is why the club haven't sacked him and are encouraging him to explore his options elsewhere.

If I remember correctly SKD went to trial, was protected and counselled through his ordeal and even after he was moved on, was given a hero’s welcome back when he first played against us.

It would be pretty hypocritical, based on some of the comments here, if the same welcome was given to Rads if he is moved on.

Also, if the club had been as supportive of Brandon Smith in his short time here, as has been mentioned on here and can’t do the same for a local junior who has bleed for the jersey, I’d be very disappointed.

Regardless of what Nick said in the press, does anyone know for certain what has been said to the players? And what were Nick’s exact words - caught with, caught using, involved with, all language that can easily be backed away from.

It’s disappointing that our players have been caught up in this even if it is of their own doing but for me the most disappointing part is how some fans have dumped Rads to the kerb in a trial by media.

The Cheese will be lucky to play NRL again.

The insider trading charge is pretty serious when you factor in that Sportsbet are an NRL major partner.

BTW I don’t really think an employer should have the right to determine what any employee does in their free time. Turn up to work effected than that’s another story I agree.
On the flip side, we could attract top tier players who'd like our zero tolerance to drugs mantra.

It's a hard call to show him the door, which pretty much every other club wouldn't if in the same situation. But it goes to show why Easts are a better club. No one is bigger than the team/club.
What is upsetting though is the double standards. Fatrell got away with a slap on the wrist from souffs, so did Ponga after the toliet incident, and many others. The NRL needs to enforce a zero tolerance policy, for the sake of the integrity of the game.
I dare say, there wouldn’t be enough players to fill 17 teams if it was a zero tolerance policy.

In the AFL, they don’t even have to disclose the first offence, a warning for the second, and then possibly dismissal on the 3rd offence.

    that’s leniency.

Yeah are you? What's your problem?

Johnny73 said that domestic violence stems from drugs and alcohol. Hence my question to him why Nick hasn't imposed an alcohol ban also?

So to summarise, you don't think Rads should be sacked. Good call.

Because D.V. is usually caused by drugs/alcohol. No sober bloke hits a woman unless he's a psychopath.
So why no booze ban also?

I totally agree with your last point and I find the signings of people like Michael Jennings, Blake Ferguson and Matthew Lodge to be significantly more disgusting than a bloke who is doing recreational drugs and this is where Nick should not have gone public with his sentiments around drugs because it highlights the hypocrisy of his stance.
