Rads will be gone from first grade for the first 10 rounds, then you would think will have to return thru NSW Cup.
Could be, by that time, the first grade side is flying, winning all games with a new star in Rads' position.
Wonder what happens then.

There must be a reason why it's without pay instead of a fine by the club though.
Under the CBA, clubs can fine players up to 25% of their salary. — No mention of standing down players without pay, which would be the RLPA's main concern in setting a precedent that other clubs could use.
Technically, if the Roosters are not paying Victor 150k or so of his salary, then that 150k or so is available to use to pay other players, i.e. top up contracts.
This is a different circumstance to a player being fined as they are still technically being paid even though the payment is not made to the player in question as it is used to pay off the fine over time.
Will the NRL give the Roosters salary cap concession to have Victor Radley's 10-week suspension without pay removed from their salary cap - have to wait and see?

Also, Rads earns a lot more than $30k for 10 rounds of footy. He'll be paid during that period and I suspect woulda donated the $30 to charity (then filed it as a tax deduction... call me a cynic but if this is how it works, his net position's gonna be pretty much the same as if he didn't donate it to charity).
I wouldn't be crying 'poor Victor'. IMO the bigger punishment to him woulda been having to fess up to Robbo and Uncle Nick. $30k is the least of his concerns...Last edited by ism22; 09-19-2025, 06:43 PM.

I would say all of our young forward players had a better season than Radley. I recall 2 good games from Victor all season and they were both against St George. Foketi, Steep, Wong, both Butchers far more upside nowadays. Whyte had been playing lock at the end of the year anyway. Radley is a relic who hasn’t adapted his game since been targeted (unfairly) in the crackdown a few seasons ago. The 6 again looks too fast for him aswell, lost his mobility. Can’t pass either, poor mans Isaiah Yeo.

And it sets a predicdent for other clubs and the NRL.
Punishment for zero tolerance is open to interpretation and doesn't necessarily equate to dismissal. We've now set a benchmark for other clubs to follow.
NRL players should heed notice to what's gone down and learn a valuable lesson at the expense of Vic. If you're going to do it, do it low key and be very wise.

All that seems to really matter to him is himself not the club or team or us fans. And what kind of a role model can he ever be now? The example he set our youth is it’s alright as long as you can keep it secret and not get caught. He didn’t come out to the club but was exposed! And if he wasn’t exposed he’d keep doing it behind the clubs back! So I personally don’t want a rooster like that who’s sneaky and only apologised because he got caught but was happy to be secretive and break the clubs code until exposed. Not a person to be trusted.
No one else has been caught or owned up but there are many opinions that the amount apparently supplied was more than sufficient for 1 person. From the number of players caught /photographed with substances over the last 5 years it would appear that the use of coke is widespread in the NRL and it would be reasonable to assume that more than 1 player at the club has dabbled.
Do you really think Rads did this without the others knowing? If they knew, did they try to stop him? If not, aren't they complicit? Where then does the 'Club Culture' lie? If everyone was fully invested in Club Culture surely the others would have spoken up or does Club Culture only extend to ' don' get caught' but if you do 'you're on your own'.

The 10 week suspension and the 30k donation to charity, is the perfect response by the club.
It keeps a true blue Rooster at the club, and I am happy.
Not to mention that he is the backbone of our forward pack.
Haters can just go f#ck off.

The NRL won't act to curb such media reporting, as they are beholden to their masters, like Channel 9 and Fox, as they basically fund the game.
