I have no doubt our stance on this right or wrong will make us a far less desirable club for future prospects. One slip up and you’re gone. If trying to attract player A and he’s making a decision between us and any other club and it’s borderline he will choose the club that doesn’t kick you to the kerb the first time you get caught doing something that is common practice amongst the majority of young people today that can afford it.

I love our club and Uncle Nick but his comments were always going to catch up with us and bite us on the arse. They were naive, off the cuff and said just to get a moral victory over the old enemy. Now we have made a rod for our own back that is going to be a burden.

    Couldn’t agree more mate
plenty out of touch with modern day youth today
I’d expect at least 50% of nrl players and public in their 20s would be or at least have done before
and other clubs giving their players reduced punishments

victor has done so much for us despite adversity through injuries and suspensions and everyone is keen to just throw him out the door straight away

A zero tolerance policy for players using illicit drugs is exactly the best way to protect the integrity of the Sydney Roosters club.
Said club is paying most players anywhere from $300,000 to $1million every 52 weeks.
For that amount of money I believe it has the right to demand players be illicit drugs free.
Players soaked in alcohol or drugs don't play their best.
      Everyone knows it.

You’re missing the point. This will not be good for our club ie one slip up and you’re gone - we need to be more open minded than that and offer a chance and be seen to be being proactive in helping a player in this situation for the first time that is if we don’t want to reduce our potential talent pool by half.

BTW I don’t really think an employer should have the right to determine what any employee does in their free time. Turn up to work effected than that’s another story I agree.

Couldn't agree more. And somehow if they had gone to a pub and played up on the drink in public, that would have been ok. We could deal with that and apologise and move on. Jack Wighton can charge through town king hitting innocent strangers...and no sacking for him. Just put him through an educational course.

Politis does have the right to impose whatever standards he likes, but this is foolish and way over the top. And if it was Tedesco or Walker, no way they get sacked.

Taking drugs in your youth is not a modern day thing I can assure you.

Most of us knew that Nick's stance was always going to come back and bite him, the club and the fans in the ar$e.

I posed the question earlier, why hasn't Rads been charged by Queensland police? It's not that I want him charged but with such apparently damning phone transcripts I would have thought he is as much or more guilty than Smith. If it's insufficient or suspect and isn't chargeable evidence then surely Nick and the Roosters can say there is also insufficient evidence and Rads is not guilty of anything. Both scenarios can't be correct. Can someone say ism enlighten me?

I believe the issue is that Rads lied to officials about what happened when this first came to light …

The issue is now about Nick - gone past drugs lying etc. (news cycle anyway)

Worst case scenario...pay out his contract, thank him for his past footy, and wave him goodbye.
I agree when Nick speaks, people listen. Victor’s given plenty to the club, but if he can’t stay on the right path, then the Roosters need to make a tough call. give him permission to negotiate from Nov 1. If it comes to it, pay out his contract, thank him for what he’s contributed, and part ways with respect. The club’s standards and reputation have to come first.

It's terribly sad, but he bought it on himself. He's 100% gone when they reference 'the manger can discuss with other clubs'. He won't rock the boat. This will all be managed very professionally. He'll take the fall for any others involved. Carpet swept, nothing else to see here and some very lucky other boys.

Maybe DCE to 6 and Huge-O to bench as backrower.

The whole DCE thing comes alive again.

I just read the alleged texts exchange. I'm gutted that we have more than likely seen Rads play in the RWB for the last time.
It's a hard call to show him the door, which pretty much every other club wouldn't if in the same situation. But it goes to show why Easts are a better club. No one is bigger than the team/club.
What is upsetting though is the double standards. Fatrell got away with a slap on the wrist from souffs, so did Ponga after the toliet incident, and many others. The NRL needs to enforce a zero tolerance policy, for the sake of the integrity of the game.

I think it was wrong for Nick to come out publicly and communicate his stance. I'm not argueing with his choice in drug ramifications for our players but he out of all people should know how the media plays that game.

He should have kept it in house. Now he is backed into a corner and there are so many variables at play here e.g. can they even legally sack him given there is no charges etc so what was the adantage of coming out in the media in the first place? It was only ever going to end badly for him.

Nick’s stance make it impossible not to sack or at least shift radley on as it will be his and the clubs word otherwise

No other club would move rads on in this circumstance

I just hope they don’t look into it further
as I agree things would change if Teddy and Walker got involved

I would like Rads To stay.
                                Give him a last chance.
he is young , he has 2 kids , he’s a Roosters legend.
You have to get him help, look after him, he has to want to grow up.
It’s always a good idea to give a young bloke one more chance.
