If it ends up that Radley is more severely punished then Smith, that will be the greatest joke in history.

And Souths will be laughing at Politis.

I don’t usually agree with you but I wholeheartedly agree with you on that.

I cannot fathom how all of a sudden nearly all of the media shift has gone on to Radley when it was only uncovered as part of a wider investigation on Smith. Smith should get a big suspension from the NRL with the betting stuff.

The difference though is our club are on a moral crusade it seems and Souffs have no morals so they won’t sack Smith or even punish him. Smith punishment will be solely handed down by the NRL should he be found guilty.

I will say though I don’t think anyone will laugh at Politis and I don’t think Politis would lose a wink of sleep over Souffs opinion on him.

[quote=vasco]As for Nick, why is it OK to give players charged with domestic violence and other crimes another chance, however it's not OK to give someone that tried to score drugs another chance?[/unquote]

Because D.V. is usually caused by drugs/alcohol. No sober bloke hits a woman unless he's a psychopath.

It was reported by Michael Caryannis on NRL 360 this week that Radley wasn't as forthcoming about the events and they club were shocked by the contents of the text message exchange but we should take it with a grain of salt obviously until the club makes a statement and/or a decision because until that day it's all speculation.

I totally agree with your last point and I find the signings of people like Michael Jennings, Blake Ferguson and Matthew Lodge to be significantly more disgusting than a bloke who is doing recreational drugs and this is where Nick should not have gone public with his sentiments around drugs because it highlights the hypocrisy of his stance.

I can understand that supporters are disappointed with how this appears to be playing out but what I can’t understand is how quickly some are prepared to throw Rads under the bus before there is even any sort of trial - even though Rads is not even charged.

If I remember correctly SKD went to trial, was protected and counselled through his ordeal and even after he was moved on, was given a hero’s welcome back when he first played against us.

It would be pretty hypocritical, based on some of the comments here, if the same welcome was given to Rads if he is moved on.

Also, if the club had been as supportive of Brandon Smith in his short time here, as has been mentioned on here and can’t do the same for a local junior who has bleed for the jersey, I’d be very disappointed.

Regardless of what Nick said in the press, does anyone know for certain what has been said to the players? And what were Nick’s exact words - caught with, caught using, involved with, all language that can easily be backed away from.

It’s disappointing that our players have been caught up in this even if it is of their own doing but for me the most disappointing part is how some fans have dumped Rads to the kerb in a trial by media.

I dont like this part of the text

“All good bro, you sorted us good, man. Let me know if you need anything and I will sort it for you.”

You sorted US.....the us bit is a bit mysterious. Cheese and Rads, others or just an expression.

Yeah local junior blah blah .....but he puts a stink around the club and maybe even those on the trip. Not sacked and tortured in ressies til he asks for a release or maybe he asks for a release now.

So who fed that info to the media? Could only be Rads or the Club surely, if in fact it is true.

    Indeed.
It's not rocket science (gee that rocket science is very difficult to understand if one is not a genius).
The movie "Hidden Figures" is instructive.
It's about brilliant African American women who worked at NASA long ago when man was first being launched into space. They worked everything out manually, before the IBM computer took over.

You don't have to a genius to understand "zero tolerance policy to drugs".

As we know, Nick Politis is a man of his word so i expect Radley to be shown the door - Catalans and Hull KR will be short priced favourites.

The other players involved should consider themselves VERY lucky.

We already have ready made replacements for Radley in Connor Watson/Nat Butcher, i personally wouldn't mind seeing Hugo Savala spend some time there in the pre-season especially considering Toby Rodwell is already in line for that #6 come 2027.

Reece Foley & Jake Elliot are also outside the box options both excelled at lock in NSW Cup this year.

As much as i don't like it Adam Elliot is also on the lookout for a club and it makes sense considering his wife is here.
I see Salisi Foketi as the perfect replacement and don’t know why he doesn’t get more opportunities. If Radley goes should free up money to retain the young players coming through.

i agree with an earlier comment Radley isn’t the same dynamic player he was a few years ago and may only be a concussion or two away from retiring

Sam might not need a tight leash.
Could be he's a smart young man, wise enough to understand fully that "no drugs" means exactly that.

I think there are 2 key points being missed in this debate. One is objective and one is subjective.

    1. Nick P said anybody CAUGHT doing drugs or being involved in drugs would be shown the door. He is a multi-billionaire who has been around footy for decades. He isn’t so naive to not know a huge majority of footy players have dabbled or do dabble in drugs, especially party drugs. Caught being the key word, ie making the club look bad publicly.

    2. Rads has been bog average for the last 2 seasons at least and is a couple headknocks away from retirement. His best work for us is long gone. From a football and salary cap POV alone, he isn’t worth keeping so no idea why anyone would care other than the fact he’s a local boy and a good character.

I just hope they don’t look into it further
as I agree things would change if Teddy and Walker got involved
The Walker brothers would have Sammy on a tight leash.
