A disappointing way to end the year. We were up for a long time. No chance to rest players. Our byes finished too early. We looked tired.
We had them but errors never got us to maintain the pressure. The last 10 minutes of the first half were costly. They had nothing all game really until those errors and we were not able to defend them. That penalty from Angus probably started the rot when we had them pinged on their line. Collins let him know.
It would be unfair to blame any particular players. They all had great seasons and provided plenty of excitement all year when many didn't expect to get to where we did. A roller-coaster year with all the new fresh faces. They should be proud. They will all be better for the run.
All in all we were not contenders and even had we won we were on the tough end of the draw. We would probably have to beat Broncos/Raiders, Storm, Broncos/Raiders to win it. A bridge too far probably.
Excited about next year with Robson coming and NButch back. Looking forward to some of the new recruits coming through as well. Should be a great pre-season.

    Go Easts.

    And Raiders to win.

Another thing Leniu is the most over played and overated player in that team ..rarely puts in..find another prop.

I hope they go out in straight sets too. My daughter says the same!

I hope so too I can't stand them it's a joke that a one team town can be so poorly supported until they start winning and it gets celebrated. Unfortunately I can't bring myself to cheer on any team remaining so my interest in this finals series has died with our elimination last night.

Assuming the Raiders win that will be all the favourites bar us. Why don’t we ever win when in the odds are in that $1.70 to $2.20 field?

All supporters of opposing teams are annoying. The Sharks are the worst. The false hope they have makes it amusing though.
I hope they do it for Ricky. I found a new respect for him after that 20 year 2002 reunion video.
No chance I would put the Broncos, Storm, Panthers, Dogs and Sharks in front of the Raiders.
If the Raiders don't make the GF then ICGAFF who wins. I'll watch with little interest tbh.

Agree 3 of the last 4 years our finals have started 2 months out from end of season just trying to make the 8
                left the run to late
and unfortunately our worst performance of the last 2 months last night

It’s annoying as this year was there for the taking
if we had last years rosters or at least made the top 4 who knows
we could beat anyone in the 8

Not having Sammy for 18 rounds was probably the biggest factor this year. Losing NButch also hurt.

Wonder if they've ever heard the term Mistake Free Football ???

Frustrating because we were making ground at some points but BINGO dropped ball.

I am interested to know what the bench looks like next year. With Robson able to play long minutes, and many players vying for a bench spot, surely Watson's days with us are numbered.

I believe he is one of the best in the comp with post contact meters, and offers solid defence.

Don't think he is doing a bad job, the question whether he is doing a $800,000k a years worth job.

I'd certainly be keeping Whyte over Leniu if it came to the crunch.

But really, our forwards are not the problem.

The opportunities to win were there on multiple occasions last night. The forwards made the meters, our defence was great.

But our halves could not convert those opportunities, or in Walkers case deadset bungled them.

Our playing philosophy needs to change. Eyes up footy is fine to a point, but we appear to be doing it foe 80 minutes. With higher risk footy comes errors, and on a wet night in a final v a motivated opposition, if those risks don't pay off you lose the game.

Also, our completion rate was 67% which is simply not going to win you a finals footy game.

What a vile putrid performance But not shocked it happened Tan into 13 before the game and he asked me how I thought we’d go If we play our best we win But said you know very well we are really good at beating ourselves

                                Watson will play 14
he is the best 14 in the comp and will actually get to play there next year
Robson will need a rest at times and also Watson covers lock, hooker, edge, centre and half so a perfect utility
