I know i am probably in the minority here, but i think DCE for a year will be an asset to the club (especially at $500K)
If you watched the game Manly played V the Tigers a week ago - the entire team was horrible, borderline pathetic - DCE was by no means the worst (Luke Brooks, Matt Lodge and Jazz Tevaga were pathetic). Then watch them against the Dolphins, and he was again involved in everything and a lot of what they did well - he was involved.
I dont buy into the whole 'stifling Hugo' at all - he will be in the 17 most weeks, and most importantly - i think he, and Sam will be better players for their entire career because of playing with him. Similarly, i think Keary was a better player in his career due to Cronk - not saying he (or Sam / Hugo for what its worth) aren't good players already - just saying i think they will have better careers for playing with him.
Also think, unlike other clubs - Roosters dont do your traditional 'rebuilding years' - this year was probably that, and fans are going to think its a failure if we dont make the 8! the club has always wanted to win now, and end of the day, i think he will make us a marginally better side next year. Add him and Robson, and i think those 2 fill some gaps in the roster

que sera sera. what we think doesn't matter. we're fighting for our lives in the comp this year and that's more interesting. in the last few years we've had the team to win the comp but we've been foiled by having injuries at the wrong time. if we can make it to the semis not getting any more injuries we'll be full strength in a way that we haven't been since we last won it

I agree and look forward to him coming.
One thing is for sure, he is a better quality human being than the POS in the media at present involving the roosters.

I’m quietly confident about the Roosters chances this year , as long as we don’t meet the Riff in the 1st elimination semi.
I will worry about the Roosters in 2026 , in 6 months time, after spending a lot of that time on the beach.

if he's only asking for 500k for one year then it's no longer a salary cap issue, it's not much more than what we paid chad. does it stunt hugo's development as a player? maybe, maybe not. at the very least hugo's signed for next year and you'd figure there's no chance of him leaving. up to hugo to look at dce coming as a positive. he can look at jamal fogarty's career as late developer for inspiration

DCE Today: 4 line break assists, 5 try assists, 1 try scored, 316 kicking metres, 1 repeat set, 8 runs for 105 running metres.
Hugo & Sandon Combined Last Night: 1 try assist, 1 tackle break, 0 line break assists, 469 kicking metres, 0 repeat seats, 2 line breaks, 17 runs for 162 running metres
---
Some other stats:
- With today's performance DCE is now equal first in try assists for season 2025 (Number 1 half)
- He is now equal third for line break assists in season 2025 with halves (Equal 6th overall with Luke Brooks & Tom Dearden)
- He has kicked the fourth most metres in season 2025.
I think it may be time for some to eat some humble pie, hard to argue with the stats and the stats say that DCE is still an elite half.

The above stats suggest to me that Manly lack the strike and class across the park like we have and are heavily reliant on DCE.
