    It's about the stats.
DCE smashed both our halves in the metres off kick offs last night.

They’ll be back when one of our halves throws a forward pass or fails to perfect a kick.

Yep, nothing I love more than selective stats.

        DCE out played Sammy,

Missed tackles DCE 1, Sammy 3.

Sorry for having commitments away from the forum, sir. Just here to acknowledge that DCE does indeed have good and bad games just like literally every other player in any sport on earth.

          Better?

          Tag me next time.

Like it or not DCE still outdoes Sandon Smith and Hugo Savala combined in key halves stats for 2025. These are not selective stats like milanja is pretending but legitimate stats such as try assists, linebreak assists, in play kicking and other stats you'd want from a half. DCE is getting these stats in a team that isn't as good as ours either.

Dummy, dummy, turn a forward back under.

Turn your second rower back under.

Dummy, dummy, turn a forward back under.

            Dive.

Dummy, dummy, turns a forward back under.

            Shank an attacking kick.

            Dive.

Take an ineffective run because you held onto the ball too long.

Turn a second rower back under.

It really is dreary football isn't it. I'm not surprised Queensland's attack loosened up so much after his dropping.

To be fair most of the negative comments are directed at Chad who is the worst player in the NRL and Sandon who is NSW Cup standard.

A poster here once told me that Hugo and Sandon would play Origin someday.

I like Hugo however he's not quite SOO level just yet. He's still young and who knows what could happen if he keeps working hard.

It's very easy after a good performance to get excited and make statements like that. I've recently done it with Billy Smith and had second thoughts once the dust had settled.

As for Sandon, he can't complain as Robbo has given him ample game time to lock down his position. Perhaps ESL or depth signing at another NRL club. Nice lad and I wish him the best!

Those two one metre pop up passes was like him saying you do something with it. He had NFI all night. He has become a sad one year too long player and unfortunately next year he will be our two year too long player.
I can't understand how some still think he has anything left to offer when week after week he is getting worse. People still living in the past.
FM I hope Uncle Nick just tells him to come and coach next year. This is going to be embarrassing.

I don’t know why this has become part of his game recently, I can’t remember him doing it that much in previous years, his game is looking much more pedestrian.

True, but I felt Sammy was copping it as well last week when he’s barely been back from a long term ACL injury plus he lost his halves partner Sandon early in that game. Some of the comments were very knee jerk reactionary. Yes our attack was frantic and disorganised but Watson was slotted into 6 and while I love what he brings to the team he’s not a 6 and he has no kicking game. I think our two halves outplayed our so called saviour last night. What I don’t know is if DCE’s current ineffectiveness is due to his aging or his disinterest in playing for his current coach / club.

                          Fair enough.

It's taken me some time but now I realise that Sammy doesn't have the makeup to play 7. It's best for the team that he plays 6 and we have a halfback that can add structure and help us play more systematically. I think we achieved this against Manly!

I made a comment last night that we need to be careful and not allow them back into the game by raising the risk level and constantly turning the ball over. I can see it coming with Robbo coached teams. Tail goes up and it's time for razzle dazzle footy. At this point we need a 7 that can demand the team focus on the end result and play a more conservative style of footy especially in last nights conditions. Momentum is everything! The opposition can score 3 tries in 15 minutes if it's gifted to them. Hugo should improve in this department. It can be tricky as you don't to come across as a bossy boots especially if it's against your nature.

In regards to DCEs form Imo there's a number of thing's attributing to where he's at.

                          1. His age. SOO made this clear!
                          2. His coach. Seibold is an average at best. Rumour has it that he'll be sacked at seasons end and replaced by one of the Manly old boys. Imo their roster is top 6. The buck stops with the coach. They've definitely underachieved.

It reminds me of the last 18 months of Fittler's tenure where everything was an inside ball back to a forward (usually using Fitzy as a battering ram) and then we got Smithy in 2010 and the team became the most exciting attacking unit in the comp and Pearce was doing things we had never seen before.

Our attack was pedestrian in recent years until Holbrook came on board and we finally got that clicking and no we are going to bring in an attacking handbrake to negate all the work done to get better.

We had threads a week or 2 after Sam came back from a long term injury that were saying he isn't the guy long term and all this other nonsense.

I love how we spent all year hearing about how try assists is the only measurement of a half and that's why DCE is better than all of our halves combined and as soon as he comes up with NOTHING on his home patch against our team and Sammy gets 2 great assists it becomes "Oh but the kick metres!!!'

The only worry I really have about Sam is his tackling on our goal line as he’s so small and can’t contain big players running at him full pace. Other than that I see our long term future with him and Hugo with DCE as halves coach not player or as a backup for injuries.
