I just hope he's not another Fatty Vautin signing ! But the similarities are there ...

I actually prefer DCE’s old halves partner, Kieran Foran.
Foran always takes on the line, then delivers a short pass to a forward, long ball or cutout ball to his support players.
In the process, he usually gets smashed by the defence , because he passes so late.
He reamed the Warriors last weekend.
A great player, who is going to retire this year.

I think the signing of DCE goes back to my previous point in another thread that Robbo doesn’t seem to look at what’s in front of him and instead decides to be narrative driven or have a set way of doing things.
I don’t mind DCE as a player and I can see the value he can potentially add to the team but I also see it as a big risk and it’s clear that Robbo at the start of the season saw the need for an experienced half. Hence why he started with Townsend over Hugo. Keep in mind Hugo was a bees coq away from signing with the Tits aswell! Even when Hugo started playing well and continues to play well, Robbo has his mind made up that for the team to perform how he wants, we need an experienced half like DCE. It’s frustrating. Sometimes you don’t need to overthink it, a solution presented itself and we should just roll with it and back the development of Hugo. If the signing fails it should squarely be on the coach and not DCE himself.Last edited by HunchoRooster; 07-31-2025, 05:15 PM.

Would you drop your halfback if you were winning the comp?
Ciraldo did.

Bulldogs were already getting rid of him they refused his requests for a contract extension multiple times and they signed his replacement on a long term deal. Nobody else drops their main playmaker for a 1 year rental.Originally posted by Mickie Lane View Post

Yeah similar to what simp said it’s a different situation there. Sexton was unsigned for next season and clearly not apart of their plans. I did think it was harsh to drop him early given his form but the writing was on the wall. Robbo has gone on record to say how much he rates Hugo and how he’s got a long term future at the club but obviously doesn’t back him as a starting half over DCE yet.Originally posted by Mickie Lane View Post

Plus Galvin is a teenager and will be there a lot longer than a year.

Granted it hasn't been the greatest season by a halfback ever he still is top 10 in the comp for try assists, top 5 for 40/20 kicks and is at least top 8 in his position for tackle breaks, in play kicking and tackles made. I think he still beats both Hugo and Sandon combined for key half stats...Originally posted by Kentucky_Fried_Rooster View PostI don’t see DCE taking us to a premiership, maybe 3-4 years ago he would have but age has caught up with him.
He hasn’t done much this year and I expect next year will be the same

Well said. A fantastic player on his day, as good as any half in the competition. Such a competitor. I think being a bit injury prone towards the end of his career coupled with the fact he’s a Kiwi not eligible for the NSW origin halves circus plus his off field issues have robbed him of getting the true respect that he deserves. A proper footy player and a best mate to Mitch Pearce. Would’ve been good to have them both at the Chooks in their prime.Originally posted by roostermcgregor View PostI actually prefer DCE’s old halves partner, Kieran Foran.

I agree but couldn’t have put it into works.
That said it would be hard for coaches to acknowledge their master plans need changing mid season.
Imagine all the bullshit Robbo has to do with his higher ups in terms of his ‘vision’ and how he’ll win a premiership, only for a Hugo to come along and screw the narrative.
A footy club would be just like any other stupid workplace.
